Sammy Dale Patton


 

 

A celebration of life for Sammy Patton, 74 of Giddings, Texas will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Lincoln Community Center in Lincoln, Texas.

Sammy Dale Patton was born on November 3, 1947 in Terral, Oklahoma, the son of Leonard and Voncile (Dean) Patton. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 10, 1965 and was discharged on July 9, 1971. On April 11, 1994 he married Susette Clough in Andrews, Texas. He worked as a truck driver for Key Energy for many years and most recently drove for Altman Plants in Giddings. Sammy learned to play the guitar at a young age and played in several bands and had a few recorded songs. The local nursing homes enjoyed having him come to play music and sing for their residents. He was known as a talker and would tell many stories, whether they were true or not. Sammy was always ready to play a game of golf or eat a good meal. He always made his family a priority.

Sammy passed away the morning of Sunday, December 19, 2021 at his home in Giddings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Patton and Voncile Underwood, and three sisters, Joyce Smith, Bobbie Billingsley, and Billie & Alvin Carmon Sr.

Sammy is survived by his wife, Susette Patton of Giddings; six children, George Patton of Rhode Island, Chastity & Tim Jones of Lexington, Shawn Wilson of Lexington, Kim & Jimmy Miller of Pineland, Eric & Brandye Wilson of Mississippi, and Cory Duggins of Giddings; fifteen grandchildren, Alexander Patton, Kayley Patton, Sara Wilson, Miranda Jones, Alexis Jones, Tyler Jones, Kaelan Wilson, Morgan Miller, Lyndsey Miller, Johnny Miller, Meagan Miller, Destiny Lewis, Layla Wilson, Mayce Villanueva, and Paige Hall; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, David Patton of Giddings and Timmy Patton of West Texas; two sisters, Donna & Ray Martinez of Oklahoma and Arthurene & Randy Abke of Katy; one brother-in-law, Howard Smith of Giddings, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Memorials may be made to a charity that supports veterans, a local animal shelter or ASPCA, or to the charity of one’s choice.
