Roy Joe Piland


 

 

Roy Joe Piland passed away Monday December 6, 2021 at his home in Austin, TX.

Born on June 25, 1959 and raised in Lubbock by Gene and Sue Piland, Joe learned to love music at an early age, and it became part of his life. He graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and received his master’s degree at Regis University in Denver, both of which he was very proud. Throughout his career, Joe was able to follow his passion for music both in Lubbock and later when he moved to Austin and became an Area Sales Representative for Dobbs Stanford Corporation.

Surviving in addition to his wife Katherine (Honohan), are his two sons, Cory Piland and his wife Allyn of Lubbock and Matthew Taylor of San Diego; two daughters, Jennifer Weakland and her husband Brandon of Joint Base Andrews and Meghan Soper and her husband Garrett of Boiling Springs; three grandchildren, Carter Kathryn Piland, Lily Katherine Weakland, and Braxton Cade Piland; mother, Sue Piland of Lubbock; one sister, Vicki Reininger and her husband Michael of Ponte Verde Beach, and one niece, Mackenzie Reininger. Joe is preceded in death by Gene Piland.

Joe was beloved by everyone he met and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held in Lubbock, TX at a later date.

Memorials have been requested to be given to a cancer foundation of your choice.
