Kenneth Antone Lehmann

 

 

Funeral services for Kenneth Lehmann, 94 of Ledbetter, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. John Waak officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, will follow in the Ledbetter Cemetery.

Kenneth Antone Lehmann was born on November 28, 1927 in the Sandtown Community in Washington County, Texas to Adolph Gus Lehmann and Antonie Sidonia (Schultz) Lehmann. He was baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine on August 12, 1928 and confirmed also at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine on March 29, 1942 by Rev. Henry Brunotte. His confirmation verse was Romans 10:12, “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him”. Kenneth graduated from Burton High School in 1945 and then attended Blinn College on the G.I. Bill and received his Associates Degree in Business Administration in 1957. He joined the U.S. Army Infantry on March 21, 1951 and served in Korea where he was wounded in action on November 21, 1951. Along with receiving a Purple Heart, Kenneth also received the Bronze Star for heroism and the Silver Star for gallantry in action. On June 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Janet Neutzler. They were blessed with two daughters, Sandra and Dawn. Kenneth and Janet owned and operated the Ledbetter Store from 1955 until 1981. After selling the store, he served as a rural mail carrier for the Ledbetter area for 15 years. He was a longtime member of the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department and Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings where he served on the church council, the usher committee, and sang in the choir. Kenneth was a lifelong rancher who also enjoyed fishing and an occasional gambling trip to Las Vegas or Lake Charles to play the slots. He was a true “people person” who enjoyed being around others and spending time with family and friends.

Kenneth passed away the morning of Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Bec’s Blessing in Giddings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph & Antonie Lehmann; his wife, Janet Lehmann; his son-in-law, Willie Flores Jr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby & Arthur Weerts, and his two brothers and sistersin law, Edward & Marilyn Lehmann and Raymond & Ruby Lehmann.

Kenneth is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Blasig & her husband, Ronnie of Giddings and Dawn Flores of Cedar Park; three grandchildren, Taylor Blasig & her husband, Hank Marsh of Georgetown, Hunter Flores of Cedar Park, and Logan Flores of Cedar Park; special friend, Carolyn Markert of Giddings, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Blasig, Hunter Flores, Logan Flores, Hank Marsh, Keith Weerts, and Nicholas Lehmann.

Memorials may be made to the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department, Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings, or to the charity of one’s choice.
