James Floyd Zoch


 

 

Funeral services for James Zoch, 62, of Giddings, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Chris Nietubicz and Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

James Floyd Zoch was born on July 31, 1956 in Giddings, Texas to Melvin & Frances (Krause) Zoch. He was baptized on August 12, 1956 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester, Texas and was confirmed on April 22, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Ewald Recks. His confirmation verse was Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him”. James was united in marriage to Susan Woodman on October 25, 2013 in Giddings, Texas. James was a mail carrier for the United Postal Service and a farmer and rancher. He served at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church on the Board of Finance, as an elder, and sang in the choir. James enjoyed fishing, riding his ATV, working his cattle, dancing and listening to music. James enjoyed food especially ice box cookies, peanuts, and a good steak. He loved to smile and was always joking around. He had the biggest heart.

James passed away the morning of Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Giddings Residence and Rehabilitation Center following a battle with cancer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Frances Zoch; first wife, Josephine Dube Zoch, and mother-in-law, Beverly Woodman.

James is survived by his wife, Susan Zoch of Giddings; five children, Jonathan Knippa and his wife, Rachel of Crosby, Jenny Fajkus and her husband, Casey of Northrup, Jamie Zoch of Giddings, Ashlie Myers of Giddings, and Abby Morrison and her husband, C.J. of Jarrell; five grandchildren, Luke Myers of Giddings, Layla Myers of Giddings, Jaxon Bernstein of Jarrell, Jacob Morrison of Jarrell, and Kaydence Morrison of Jarrell; two sisters, Judy Boriack & her husband, Delvin of Northrup, Laverne Schulze and her husband, Erwin of Northrup; sister-in-law, Cindy Vrabel and her husband, David of Cedar Park, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Fajkus, Tyler Wachsmann, Ordway Boriack, Daniel Bamsch, C.J. Morrison, Luke Myers, Mark Matthijetz, and Donnie Krause. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Cale Boriack.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 North Jefferson Street, La Grange, Texas 78945, American Cancer Society, 885 North Chambers Street, Giddings, Texas 78942, or to the charity of one’s choice.
