Deborah “Debbie” Ator Smith


 

 

A visitation for Deborah Smith, 64, of Giddings, Texas, is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Deborah Ator (Blaha) Smith was born on March 16, 1957 in Giddings, Texas, the daughter of Daniel and Lydia (Prazak) Blaha. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dime Box, Texas. She graduated from Lexington High School.

Debbie was united in marriage to Charles Smith on July 31, 1999 in Austin, Texas.

She owned and operated Debbie’s Flowers for several years then continued on with Charles working with their masonry and landscaping business, DS Masonry and Landscaping.

Debbie was a strong-willed and talented woman who loved to work outside in her flower beds. She was an excellent cook and held the title of the best MeeMee. Debbie was a woman who loved animals and taking care of her family.

Debbie passed away the evening of Friday, September 17, 2021 at CHI St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Lydia Blaha; her father-in-law, Charlie Smith; her brother, Mike Blaha, and her sister-in-law, Shariece Smith.

Debbie is survived her husband, Charles Smith of Giddings; daughter, Tanya Iselt of Giddings; two brothers, Larry and wife Melissa Blaha of Riverside, Bruce Blaha of Victoria; three sisters, Judy and husband Greg Kocurek of Caldwell, Pam and husband Don Howell of Caldwell, Sheila and husband Ben Vybiral of Bryan; one mother-in-law, Julia Smith of Springtown; three sisters-in-law, Barbara and husband Robert Applewhite of Springtown, Karon and husband Wayne Gann of Springtown, and Valerie and husband David Medford of Springtown; one brother-in-law, David and wife Carol Smith of Watauga; five grandchildren, Daniel and wife Arianna Iselt of Colorado, Benjamin and wife Audra Iselt of Indiana, Amy Iselt of Giddings, Corine Iselt of Giddings, Emily Ring of Giddings; and four great-grandchildren, Abel Vasquez- Iselt of Giddings, Fletcher Iselt of Indiana, Weston Hawkins- Iselt of Colorado and Sebastian Hawkins-Iselt of Colorado as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. The family would also like to thank her special niece, Lindsey Vybiral Charanza.

Memorials may be made to the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth, Texas or to a gardening club or to a charity of one’s choice.
