Lexington Log Cabins and Heritage Center News

- Third graders from Immanuel Lutheran School helped kick off the re-opening of the cabins after our winter hiatus. The children viewed this year’s exhibit, A History of Churches in North Lee County. While touring the cabins, they participated in demonstrations of butter churning, corn shelling, rope making and “wagon train” doll making. They topped off the visit with a rousing game of “Drop the Handkerchief”. This game is new to today’s kids.

If you have been around the Square recently, you may have seen the progress being made on the new Heritage Center building. The Lexington Log Cabins and Heritage Center (LLCHC) is working to complete the building as funds become available. Information about planned fundraisers will be out soon. LLCHC would like to thank all those who have made donations to support the museum and keep the cabins operating to preserve the history of North Lee County for future generations.

The cabins are open on Friday and Saturday mornings and by request for tours or special events. For information call 979-773-2194 or e-mail: jimanne@tconline.net.
