Candidates Finalized for City and School Board Elections

Filing for City and School Board elections ended Monday at 5:00. The City of Lexington will have three positions open, currently being held by Cindy Herklotz, Judy Skolaut and Robert “Bubba” Poston. Filing to run for City Council in Lexington are Cindy Herklotz, Robert “Bubba” Poston, Tim Brown, Mary Sue Knipstein, Greg Langehennig, and Joe Boyd Reynolds.
There are also three positions on Lexington’s Independent School Board that will be open, those of Jenny Lu Jones, Mark Strain and Ricky Washington. Filing to run for LISD Board of Trustees are Ricky Washington, Keith Bexley, Kenneth Johnson, Jeremy Romoser and Byron Wren.
Filing to run for Giddings City Council are Leslie Chandler, Jr., Mary M. Posas, Normette Moore, Fred Jones, Alan Casey, Kevin Schkade and Virginia Cantu. There are three positions opening on the Giddings City Council, currently held by Fred Jones, Leslie Chandler, Jr. and Mary M. Posas.
There are two positions held by Stan DeGerolami and Maxine Siegmund opening on the Giddings School Board. Filing to run for those positions are Stan DeGerolami, Curtis Frosch, Vince McCoy, Michael Morgan, and Jill Trier.
Dime Box will not hold a school board election as only three candidates filed to run, filling the three empty positions on the Board. The three incumbents who will remain on the board are Carolyn Jones, Beth Campbell, and Glenn Spitzenberger.
Filling the unexpired term vacated by Keith Schumann will be John Schumann.
The City and School Board elections in each town are scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2005. The City of Lexington has 651 registered voters. Last year, 237 voted. Only 341 of the 3,079 voters in LISD voted in the last election.
