Lexington Mayor Robert Willrich, Sr., has declared April 21, 2005 “Bill Alexander Day”. Willrich has invited the citizens of Lexington to gather on the Square on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at 6 p.m., under the gazebo for a ceremony honoring Bill Alexander and celebrating the time he spent with us.
Bill Alexander was the Chief of Police for the City of Lexington for seventeen years, from 1985 to 2001. He was a member of the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department and the Lexington Church of Christ. He passed away on Friday, April 4, following a brief battle with cancer.

Mayor Willrich stated, “The City of Lexington experienced a great loss at the passing of Bill Alexander.”
Willrich also stated, “Bill Alexander faithfully served as Lexington’s Chief of Police and was serving as a deputy for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at the time of his passing.”
