Lee County Pantries Receive Donations

- David Edmonds, President of USWA local 4895, and Michael Vidrine, Rockdale Smelting Manager, jointly announced that a Memorandum of Settlement between Alcoa and the United Steelworkers of America was signed.

The agreement resolves all grievances included in 5-day notices served at plants in Rockdale, TX; Alcoa, TN; Davenport, IA; and Warrick County, IN. The agreement also covers related grievances at plants in Lafayette, IN and Massena, NY.

Each plant reached a local agreement and Rockdale’s local agreement included forming joint committees to help establish and review procedures and staffing needs, establish apprentice classes with participants and post specific positions on or before January 1, 2005. In addition, the company and the union will review craft needs on an ongoing basis.
