Lee County Pantries Receive Donations

Rose Fritsche will be honored at a Retirement Reception Friday.
- Rose Fritsche was presented with a plaque for her 21 years of service to Lee County by the County Commissioners last Monday, October 25, 2004.

Rose began her service to the County in January 1983, when she was elected County Treasurer. She acted in that capacity until July 1, 1996 when she was appointed the County Auditor. She will be honored with a Retirement Party this Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Lee County Courthouse in Giddings.

As County Treasurer, Rose was chief custodian of the County Finances, receiving all monies belonging to the county, keeping and accounting for all monies in a designated depository and paid or disbursed all monies in such a manner as Commissioners’ Court directed. Every two years, the state District Judges in Lee County appoint the County Auditor.

As County Auditor, Rose’s primary duty was to oversee financial record keeping for the County and to assure that all expenditures comply with the County Budget.

Rose is married to Gene Fritsche and has three grown children and nine grandchildren.

Her daughter Susan Maluschka and her husband and two teenagers live in Houston. Her other daughter Cynthia Knobloch lives with her husband and four children in Crockett. Her son, Kirk, and his wife have three children, including a new set of twins.

Rose and her husband live on the Fritsche Christmas Tree Farm located on CR 114, six miles north of Giddings. When asked what she intended to do after she retires, she said, “First, I want to travel and then I plan to work my crafts and homemade jellies for the Christmas Tree Farm.”

At this time, Rose makes about fifteen different jellies, which she sells at their business.

The public is invited to attend the Retirement Party held in honor of Rose Fritsche, Lee County Auditor, from 2 pm to 4 pm on the third floor of the Lee County Courthouse this Friday.
