County Signs Contract With Lexington EMS
-
County Commissioners approved Monday the contract and Interlocal Agreement with the City of Lexington and the Lexington Volunteer EMS, which is in line with the contract previously signed by the City of Lexington and the Lexington EMS. This will clear the way for the Lexington EMS to continue to serve the north part of Lee County. It also provides insurance coverage for the EMS out of the City Limits.
This was the last step in the contract agreement that had been discussed for the past three and one-half months that will allow Lexington’s EMS to operate both in the City Limits of Lexington and in the north end of the County. The relationship between the City and the EMS has changed dramatically this year, it has changed because the EMS became a non-profit corporation and the HIPAA privacy laws came into affect.
Mayor Robert Willrich, Sr. said, “We feel sure we will have a good working relationship with the EMS and we’re glad this last item of the contract has been concluded.”
Reuel Cooper, spokesperson and volunteer for the Lexington EMS said, “We are so happy the contract is signed and we can go back to concentrating on providing the best possible care for the citizens of North Lee County.”
The contracts with the County and the City are for one year.
