Arnold to Present Sunday Concert at First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church
Giddings, Texas

- Jeffrey Arnold, internationally known concert artist, teacher and former organist of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Giddings, will present an organ recital in Giddings on Sunday, November 14, at 4 pm in the First Presbyterian Church

A special offering collection will be received benefiting the Helen Shaw Hannes Memorial Scholarship of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Arts. The scholarship, established in 2003, provides tuition assistance to talented students, with a demonstrated financial need, pursuing piano and/or organ studies through the Conservatory.

A native of Gatesville, Texas, Arnold began his piano studies in 1967 with Orpa Mayo. He continued his studies at the University of North Texas with the late Jack Roberts. Later Arnold studied at Baylor University with Joyce Jones, while pursuing a career as both solo artist and accompanist. Subsequent engagements brought him important appearances at Carnegie Hall, in Canada and Europe.

In addition to his work as a concert artist, Arnold presents master classes and workshops in technique and interpretation at colleges, universities and churches in the United States. His pupils have performed internationally in concert, opera and musical theatre.

Arnold is the founder and artistic director of the Galena Festival of the Performing Arts in Galena, Illinois, parish musician and organist of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Victoria, Texas, and dean of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Arts. He is a colleague of the American Guild of Organists, and in 2002, was made an honorary fellow of the Royal Guild of Musicians and Singers, London Chapter, for his contribution to the international arts community as a teacher and performer.

First Presbyterian is located at 192 South Grimes in Giddings, across from the Lee County Courthouse. The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
