He was recognized as the top superintendent in Region 7, and was one of the five finalists for Superintendent of the Year at the Texas Association of School Boards Annual Convention in 2004.
Holt will be assuming the duties of Superintendent of Lexington in January, 2005.
He and his wife, Donna, have been married for 25 years. They met and married at Texas A & M University where they both received degrees. They have two children, Katie, a seventh grader, and Travis, a Junior in High School. Donna is a math teacher.
Holt has been Superintendent for the past four years, after spending nine years as a principal. He taught high school science for five years after graduating Cum Laude from Texas A & M University. He received his Masters of Education at Stephen F. Austin and his Superintendent Certification at Stephen F Austin.
He has been active in Henderson County Livestock Show Association where his children have showed animals for years.
Holt said, “We have a small farm in Henderson County and we’re looking forward to moving into another farm and ranch community. We are excited about joining the Lexington School District and getting to know the people of the community.”
