Military Families to Record Christmas Greetings

Texas News Center is offering military families the opportunity and means to send Christmas video greetings over the Internet to service men and women serving overseas during the Holiday Season.
- The Texas News Center (TNC) announced on Monday that military families in Lee County are invited to record Christmas video greetings for their family members currently serving in the military. Video greetings can be seen on the TNC Internet website during the Christmas Holidays.

Texas News Center also will be providing this service for families from Bastrop, Burleson, Milam and Fayette counties. Texas News Center is a part of the Lexington Leader and operates out of the Lexington Leader building.

Texas News Center provides daily video news casts on the web for these five rural Texas counties.

This is the second year Texas News Center has provided this home front support to area families. News anchorwoman Susan Henderson said, “This is TNC’s way of reaching out to those families who are separated from each other during this special time. It offers a unique opportunity for military families to stay in touch and offer each other support.”

Families are assigned a studio recording time when they can all gather in front of the camera to record their Christmas message to their service man and/or woman. “Our first year to work with area military families brought such wonderful memories to Texas News Center. The families were very imaginative in their greetings,” said Henderson.

“Children sang songs, wives told stories about the children’s experiences, and parents beamed with pride and showed great support of their children. A video greeting is more than just written words or a printed photograph. The videos offer all of that while preserving the emotions of the moment,” explained Henderson.

Texas News Center offers this service at no cost to the families. Sponsors are being sought to help defray the costs. Video recordings are limited to immediate family members of military personnel.
