The Lexington Eagles beat Hitchcock 55-20 last Friday night in the first round of the season playoffs, earning themselves the Bi-District Championship. This Friday, the Eagles will travel to Seguin to face the Dilley Wolves.
Lexington thoroughly dominated the Hitchcock offense with a quick, fast, hard hitting defense. Despite the huge size of the Bulldogs, compared to the Eagles, numerous times the Bulldog runners would run out of bounds or ‘slip down’ rather than being hit by the strong Eagle Defense.
The Eagle offense was outstanding while the defense was passing out bruises. Jordan Peterson rushed for 209 yards, passed for 102, and scored five touchdowns. Kendrick Robinson rushed for 104 and two more scores as the Eagles ran around, through, and passed over the Bulldog defense. Corey Lewis scored one touchdown and Will Brademan, Chase Ahrendt, and Jenner Jones all contributed with PAT scores.
The Eagle offensive line had a great game despite the size of their Hitchcock opponents. Josh Aduddell, Abel Lara, Brent Murray, Alex McFarland and Josh Reese opened up holes in the Bulldog defense that the Eagle runners went through for 374 yards, including 37 by Steven Jones and B. J. Brister.
The 2004 football season continues in Seguin Friday night at 7:30 when the Eagles take on the Dilley Wolves in the second round game. The winner of the Lexington/Dilley matchup gets the winner of the Stockdale/Skidmore-Tynan game next week.
