Torrential Rains Cause Flooding

The flood waters covered CR 309 north of FM 696.
- After over a week of heavy rain throughout Central Texas, fields in Lee County became saturated and many roads were closed. A TxDOT representative for Lee County said the waters from the Middle Yegua Creek were three and one-half feet above the bridge on FM1624 in the Fedor area. Further down the creek, near Dime Box on FM 141, the waters were measured at three feet.

High waters caused Lexington ISD schools to be closed early on Monday and closed for classes all day Tuesday. Giddings ISD let out an hour early on Tuesday and Dime Box Schools let out early on Monday and started classes late on Tuesday.

Lee County Sheriff’s Department said that as of press time, they had no reported incidents of rescue.
