Giddings Middle School Hosts Winter Fun Fest

- Giddings Middle School held the first annual Winter Fun Fest on Friday, December 3. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) sponsored event allowed the students an afternoon of fun and games by providing them with the opportunity to test their skills on several different activities.

The Giddings Police Department lent a hand with the Buffalo Batting Cage. Sergeant John Foerster and Officer Anthony Ramirez used a radar gun to clock the students’ speed when throwing a baseball. Prizes were awarded to the following students: 1st Place – Mason Urban, 2nd Place – Rush Plumlee and 1st Place Female – Raven Locke.

Mr. Mike Buck and Mr. Michael Kuhrt, Superintendent, operated the Golf Chipping area. Ethan Westfall and Chris McEwen won trophies for getting closest to the pin.

Irais Rodriguez was the winner of the “Guess the Number of M & M’s in the Snowman”. Her guess was the closest to the correct number of 684.

In addition, Lee County Wildlife Biologist, Greg Pleasant brought a hunting simulator called The Laser Shot Program that allowed students to test their skills at hunting and skeet shooting.

Other activities included Putt-Putt Golf, Ring Toss, Basketball Shootout, Hockey Slap Shot, Picture Booth, Cake Walk, Face Painting, Beanbag Toss, Horseshoe Toss, and Concession Stand. Student also had the opportunity to throw water balloons at Mr. Holman, Ms Penn, Mr. Buck, and Mrs. Puente.

The PTO was formed to provide the students of Giddings Middle School the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential in a stimulating environment through the cooperative interaction of parents, teachers, and community.

This event was an excellent opportunity for parents, teachers, and community leaders to spend time with students in a relaxed and friendly environment. The PTO would like to thank everyone who helped to make this a successful event.
