Log Cabins in Need of Building Funds
-
The Lexington Log Cabins hosted the tree lighting ceremony last weekend and earned some money toward the completion of the Heritage Center. But more funds are needed. Kay Van Dorn, spokesperson for the Cabins said, “Help us complete the construction of the Heritage Center which will preserve local history for generations to come. We had hoped to receive grants to complete the construction, but it is becoming apparent that these grants will not be funded. By completing some of the work ourselves, we think that we can complete the project for $26,000. Donations Saturday evening totaled $662. If you have not had the opportunity to show us your support, we invite you to include us in this season of giving.”
The Heritage Center is located adjacent to the Cabins, north of the Square, and when completed will hold a research library, storage for frail documents and artifacts, a display room, a small meeting room and ADA approved restrooms. The funding is needed to complete electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, walls, floors and ADA approved sidewalks and ramps.
