Lexington’s Christmas on the Square
|
There was a huge crowd waiting outside the Roddy-Fowler Log Cabin for their turn to see the Big Guy from the North Pole. These happy faces belong to Nathan Clifford, Caleb Hutson, Santa himself, McKenzie Dimock, Erica Dimock, Courtney Robertson and Robert Dimock. In the front row are Coby Robertson and Davie Clifford.

Last Saturday night, Lexington hosted several hundred people at the annual Pioneer Festival of Lights. The event began at the Cabins, just off the Square, with a hot meal of chili and stew and self-guided tours of the cabins and their Christmas decorations.
At dark, the Santa Clause Christmas Parade brought Santa to the cabins where he directed the lighting of the Christmas Tree, visited with area children, and had pictures made with them.
The Ministerial Alliance sponsored a special mini-drama entitled “The Search for Jesus”, where people were guided in a walk-through nativity drama. The drama was re-enacted again on Sunday night.
The Lexington Faith Temple youth gave hayrides Saturday evening, where they took riders through town to enjoy the decorations of the neighborhoods.
More Christmas activities can be enjoyed this weekend as Giddings will host a production of The Messiah this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
At that same time a special Childrens’ program, ages 4 to 18, will inlude making unique Christmas gifts and ornaments at Union Station. Beginning at 6:30, a chicken stew dinner will be served and the evening will include candlelight Christmas caroling by local churches.
