Local Restaurant Owner Convicted

- Mary Cisneros Tello of Giddings, former owner of La Pasadita Mexican Restaurant in Lexington, was convicted in District Court last Friday, December 17, with Judge Harold Towslee presiding.

She was convicted of theft by check, $1,500-$20,000, and received 3 years probation, a fine of $1,000 plus court costs and court appointed attorney fees, $3,762 restitution plus 250 hours of community service and ordered to attend Hot Check classes.

Tello ran her latest restaurant venture in Gary Clopton’s building located on Loop 123 in Lexington after being evicted from the old R & K location on Highway 77, also in Lexington. She took over the Hwy. 77 location in September 2002 before moving to the Loop 123 location in March of this year. It closed October 15 of this year.
