Giddings Burglary Suspect Chased by Fayette County Officials

- Derron Dante Flowers, 23, a suspect in a January 5 Giddings burglary, was arrested in Fayette County after evading authorities. Flowers was observed by a La Grange police officer shortly after the Lee County burglary.

Flowers is a suspect in a burglary at the Citgo Convenience Store located at 4115 East Austin in Giddings. At 4:55 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, Corporal Anthony Ramirez of the Giddings Police Department was alerted to an alarm call at the Citgo. Along with fellow Officers Chris Law and Abel Valles, Ramirez discovered a front window broken out and a Makita grinder at the scene. Taken from the store were approximately 75 cartons of cigarettes and a moneybag containing $557. The Makita was taken into evidence, as well as a VHS surveillance videotape.

Meanwhile, a license plate search by La Grange Police of Flowers’ vehicle came back as stolen out of Lee County. When Flowers refused to stop for the La Grange police officer, Fayette County Sheriff’s Officers joined in pursuit. Flowers led authorities out of town on Hwy 237 toward Round Top, running through a fence near the Marburger’s Farm and attempted to flee on foot. After a lengthy search Flowers was apprehended and arrested by Fayette County deputies.
