Late Night Scam on Area Residents

Lexington Police Department
Chief Randall Davis

- Lexington Chief of Police Randall Davis and Officers of the Lexington Police Department have recently received several calls regarding persons approaching Lexington area residences late at night, preying on the good will and compassion of area residents. The persons claim to have a sick child, ill spouse, or other medical emergency and then request money from the homeowner.

Chief Davis reports that the requests for money appear to be made under false pretences and ask any citizen that is approached, not to give money, but to call the police immediately.

The City of Lexington has several emergency services in place for those in need, including Lexington EMS, Fire, Police and the Lexington Ministerial Alliance. If any person is in need of emergency assistance, these organizations, as well as other professional entities in the area, stand ready to help.
