Storm Causes Damage

- High winds and driving rain that came through Lee County last Thursday afternoon caused some structural damage and several large trees to be uprooted, blocking several roadways. Most of the damage was reported in the Loebau area, east of Hwy 77 north of Giddings. 80 mph winds were reported during the peak of the storm.

During the Comments portion of the Commissioners’ Court meeting held last Monday, April 24, Commissioner Maurice Pitts thanked all the volunteers who used their own tractors and other equipment to help clear the debris from Thursday’s storm. He said that while the debris is not completely cleared yet, it is expected to be cleared in the next week or two. The efforts of all the volunteers made it much safer for everyone and shows just how rural communities pull together in emergencies.
