April 22, 1925 - February 26, 2008 Frances Louise Chronister of Lexington, Texas was born to Henry Albertus Crowell and Ethel Mae Crowell on April 22, 1925. She passed from this earth on February 26, 2008 after attaining the age of 82 years, 10 months and 4 days. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Virgil Dean Chronister, two granddaughters: an infant baby girl and Tammy April George, one great-grandson Raymond Dean St.Clair. Also preceding her were her three siblings: Opal Neyland, Harold Crowell and Edward Crowell. Left behind to remember her are her three children: Cheryl St.Clair and husband James of College Station, Phyllis George and husband Johnnie of Lexington, Craig Chronister and wife Karol of Mineola. Eight grandchildren were blessed by her presence: Darrell St.Clair and wife Tammy, Rachel Ladwig and husband Brian, Lorrie Servantez, Kelly Meyer and husband David, Chessa Lenox and husband Micah, Leith Chronister and wife Leslie, Shanda Chronister and Blaise Chronister. Twelve great-grandchildren will remember “Grandma Chronister”: Devan, Brandon, Kyndale, Tyler, Kailyn, Kynslie, Caleb, Darian, Brynlee, Bryson, Skylar and Bryla. Missing her also are a special great-neice and great-nephew Deanna Tanner and Tim Snyder. Dean and Louise were married on November 21, 1942 and lived a life filled with love for each other and their children. Dean was a deacon and later an elder in the Church of Christ and Louise taught bible school. She was a remarkable homemaker and cook and loved to prepare delicious meals for her family. For many years she made the most of the clothes for her girls and herself, then continued to sew for her first granddaughters. Louise was a loving mother and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but all are glad she is free from pain and “home” with Dean again and with Christ our Savior. November 11, 1942 - February 25, 2008 Lana Raye Higgins, age 65, of Lexington, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Monday, February 25, 2008. Lana was born on November 11, 1942. She is survived by Johnny Higgins, her beloved husband of 45 great years. She is also survived by daughter, Shelley Hollandsworth and husband Dale of Goblintown, Virginia; son, John Higgins Jr. and wife Laura of Lexington, Texas; daughter, Stacey Palmonari and husband Leo of Harper, Texas; daughter, Sherry Wagner and husband Mark of Red Oak, Texas; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah, Brenna, Ashly, Krystal, Gabrielle, Cameron, Madison, Meagan, Micah, Jordan, and Zane; and great grandchild, Summer. Lana was preceded in death by her father, Frank C. Fehr, her mother, Josephine Krizesienski Fehr, and her brother, Frank C. Fehr Jr. The visitation was at the Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, February 29, 2008 At 3:00 p.m. at The Holy Family Catholic Church in Lexington with Interment following at the Prospect Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin. August 10, 1923 – February 28, 2008 Leona Esther Schulze was born on August 10, 1923 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Gerhard and Rosalie (Mitschke) Matthijetz. Leona moved with her parents to Loebau when she was two years old and attended the Lutheran School in Loebau. Leona married Carl Bernhard “Ben” Schulze on July 20, 1941 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. They lived in Houston for many years and moved back to Loebau following Ben’s retirement. Leona was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau where she enjoyed many church activities including being a member of the Ladies Aid. She loved keeping a clean home for her family, working in her yard and she enjoyed spending time with her family. Leona died on February 28, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Schulze; parents, Gerhard and Rosalie Matthijetz; her infant sister, Ruth Matthijetz and her brother, Alfred Matthijetz. Leona is survived by her daughter, Cyleada Jones of Austin; sister, Ruby Beisert of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Services were held on March 2, 2008 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. Rev. Paul Hartfield presided. Burial followed in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Loebau. Pall bearers were: Clyde Schulze, Gilbert Schulze, Michael Beisert, John Reaves, Donald Beisert, Jr. and Gary Beisert. Memorials may be sent to Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. September 28, 1925 – February 29, 2008 Bennie F. Woodward died at the age of 82 at his home in Thorndale on February 29, 2008. He was born on September 28, 1925 in Lee County to Robert Crawford and Mary Ellen (Nunley) Woodward. Bennie married Florine Julia Poldrack on May 4, 1950 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. He lived in Thorndale for the past 50 years. Bennie was a member of the United Methodist Church and he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He loved woodworking and his dog, GG, and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He retired from working in the Pot Room at ALCOA in 1980. Bennie was preceded in death by his wife, Florine Julia Woodward in 1985; his parents; brothers, Robert Woodward, Homer Woodward and Virgil Woodward; sisters, Charlotte Smothers, Mary Smith, Bobbie Jean Lively and Blanch Stewart. Bennie is survived by his son, Brian Woodward and wife Amanda of Thorndale; daughters, Brenda Cargill and husband Jerry of Davilla, Susan Martin and husband J.D. of Lexington and five grandchildren: Sybil Cargill, Penny Ramirez, Beau Cargill, Rachel Martin and Julia Woodward. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Garrett Cargill, Kayla Henderson, Dustin Cooper, Johnathan Ramirez, Asja Ramirez and Kaytlynn Cargill; his special friend, Adella Barr of Austin; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on March 4, 2008 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial in the Lexington Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Poldrack of Cedar Creek and Rev. Jim Moore of Lexington Faith Temple presided. Pall bearers were: Tutor Doss, J.D. Hawkins, Wesley Hobbs, Jack Simmons, Don Hartleb, Bob Morris and Elmo Lincoln. Honorary pall bearers were: Melvin Cast, Leslie Joe Hodge, Amos Quinney and Bill Morris. |
