Greer Gibson

August 22, 1925 – May 21, 2006

Greer Gibson, 80, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2006 in Rockdale. Greer was born on August 22, 1925 to Enoch and Ellen Grace (Graham) Gibson in Bosque County, Texas. He married Alice O. Wilson in 1949 in Glen Rose, Texas. They lived in Port Neches before moving to Rockdale where he worked for the City. Greer was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Rockdale. He attended school in Glen Rose and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

His parents and one stepsister, Betty Gaiston, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife; sons Daniel O. Gibson and wife Sheila of Nederland, William Gibson and wife Tammie of Orange, and Orie R. Gibson of Rockdale; daughters Clemmie M. Bratcher and husband Bruce, Japohni G. Gibson, and Judith D. Mayfield and husband Roy, all of Rockdale; step-sister Theda Rorak of Pasadena; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the Lilac Cemetery near Sharp, Texas. The Reverend Dennis Maddox will officiate.

A.W. “Booger” Jones

Dec. 20, 1938 – May 14, 2006

A.W. “Booger” Jones, 67, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Pastor Loren Johnson of First Baptist Church in Milano conducted funeral services at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial was in the Milano Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rickey Chapman, Stan Wilson, Billy Baggerly, Earl Mauldin and Gary Stautzenberger.

Mr. Jones was born on December 20, 1938 in Bryan to Aaron Wilson, Sr. and Bernice (Miller) Jones. He attended school in Bryan and was a veteran of the US Navy. He worked as a ranch hand at the Holmes Ranch for over 20 years and retired 5 years ago. He and Rosalee Mauldin were married on June 8, 1993 in Bryan, Texas. His parents precede him in death.

Surviving him are his wife, Rosalee of Milano, sons, Allen and Darrell of Bryan and Eddie of Caldwell; step-son, Matthew Mauldin of Milano; daughters, Amber Jones of Milano and Debbie Walker of Tennessee and a sister, Carmaleete Northcutt of Bryan. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

James Roy Young

March 10, 1948 – May 21, 2006

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 for James Roy Young, 58, who died at his home near Milano on May 21, 2006. Rev. Weldon Belew of the Rockdale Christian Church officiated.

James was born March 10, 1948 to Nathaniel Lee and Ida Lucille (Alford) Young in Rockdale. He was a life long resident of Rockdale and Forest Grove. He was a construction worker and also worked in the oil field and as a painter. His parents precede him in death.

He is survived by his son, Marc Young of Houston; brother, Lee Young and wife Joy of Hutto; sister, Carolyn Drummond and husband Howard of Rockdale; special friends: Jimmie and Jodie Morgan and Jeff Jeffcoat; nephew, Daryl Lee Young; nieces: Lori Schwarz, Gina Schroeder, Wendy Valadez and Dee Ann Estlack.

James was a graduate of Rockdale High School and attended Navarro College.

Ella Minnie Raschke

May 2, 1912 – May 22, 2006

Mrs. Ella Raschke, 94, of Elgin passed away in Bastrop on May 22, 2006. Funeral Services are Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Paige, followed by burial in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. J.W. Mielke of Elgin and Rev. August Hannemann, (retired) officiated.

Ella was born in Lee County on May 2, 1912 to Karl Max and Anna (Exner) Jenke. She married Walter “Shorty” Raschke on January 26, 1930 and was a housewife. Her husband, Walter, six sisters, two brothers and her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons, Harvey and wife Dorothy Raschke and Edwin and wife, Dell Raschke all of Elgin; her daughter, Bernice and husband Oscar Lay of Lexington; 8 grandchildren: Harvey, Jr. and Cheryl Raschke, John B. and Linda Raschke of Kingsland, Carolyn D.and Spencer Schneider of Giddings, Clyde and Sandy Lay of Lexington, Margie and Ben Kyser of Austin, Rose Travis, JoAnn and Rick Harkins and Vivian and Dan Brandt all of Elgin. Fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive her.

The Family wishes to thank Smithville Hospital and Silver Pines Nursing Center for their care.
