October 9, 1940 – July 18, 2006 D. C. Drummond, Jr., passed away near his home in the Tracy Community while fishing. Funeral services were at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on July 21, 2006. Pastor Ray Barron of San Gabriel Christian and Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel conducted the services. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. He was born on October 9, 1940 in the Duncan Community near Rockdale to D.C. and Juanita (Reed) Drummond. He and Yvonne Campbell were married on July 24, 1965 in Deer Park. He was a retired Computer Software Developer. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving relatives are his wife, Yvonne of Tracy; sons, Steve Drummond and wife Teresa of Southlake and Dan Drummond III and wife Sheila of Frisco; daughter, Rene Massengale and husband Bert of Waco; grandchildren: Dustin Drummond, Kyle Massengale and Emily Massengale; sisters: Sue Riddle and husband George of Mexia and Shirley Lands also of Mexia. He was a member of San Gabriel Christian Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a 1965 graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business, a member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge #414, a ham radio operator and enjoyed racing radio controlled cars, fishing, gospel music and good food. February 6, 1910 –July 14, 2006 Clara Best, 96, of Mondovi, formerly of Pepin, passed away Friday, July 14, 2006 at Mondovi American Lutheran Home attended by her daughter, Jean and niece, Lila Gerhke. Clara was born February 6, 1910 in the family farmhouse in Jahn’s Valley near Cream; a daughter of the late Jacob and Lucy (Borgwardt) Dienger. On November 5, 1930, she was united in marriage to Harry W. Best. They farmed in Modena and then in rural Pepin until 1945, when they sold the farm and moved to the village of Pepin. Clara was a homemaker, cook for local restaurants, and a news gatherer for the local newspaper. For the past seven years, she resided at the Home Place of Mondovi. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, tatting, various artwork, reading, gardening, playing cards and scrabble. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one daughter Jean Gordon of Bethesda, MD; one son, James J. (Mary) Best, of Lexington; also by eight grandchildren, Laura, David, Daniel, Sharon, Donald, Jennifer, Jon and James F.; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Ester Dienger of Chippewa Falls. Besides her parents, husband Harry, two sisters, Vernie Roessler and Hilda Grotjahn; two brothers and a son-in-law preceded Clara in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi with Rev. Paul Woebbeking officiating. Committal services were at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin. April 27, 1917 – July 21, 2006 Ruby Joe Luckey, 89, passed away at Scott & White Hospital in Temple on July 21, 2006. She was a life long resident of Milam County, living most of her life in Rockdale. Rev.Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church in Rockdale conducted funeral services on July 23, 2006 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Ruby was born in April 27, 1917 in Milam County near Cameron to Albert and Allie (Canter) Whiteley. She and Lee Luckey were married on September 14, 1942 in Rockdale. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Henry “Buck” Whiteley, sister, Marie Shetler, half brother, Otto Whiteley and half sisters, Sue Kelley and Edith Lyles. She is survived by her husband, Lee of Rockdale and a number of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Billy Bob Farr, William Stork, Billy Ray Wallace, Jim Clyde Wallace, Brady Nelson, Jr. and Mike Scott Whiteley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale. She loved her church and her family. January 13, 1940 – July 22, 2006 Gerry Prazak, 66, died on July 22, 2006 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Funeral services were July 24, 2006 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, followed by burial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. Gerry was born in Floydada, Texas on January 13, 1940 to Alton H. and Betty L. Rucker Bailey. She married Arnold J. Prazak in Waco on August 18, 1956. Her parents and a brother, Dwayne Bailey preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Arnold of Rockdale; son, Mark Prazak also of Rockdale; daughters, Sandra Stutts and husband, Alan of Rockdale, Carla McCartney and husband Charlie of Port Aransas and Karen Gammage of Arlington; brother, Lynn Bailey and wife, Barbara of Lufkin; sister, Leda Farrow and husband Jack of North Richland Hills. Eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive her. Serving as pallbearers were Brent Stutts, Eric Prazak, B.J. Stutts, Andrew Simmons, David Rogers, and Leslie Yezak. December 30, 1915 – July 18, 2006 Funeral services were held on July 21, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin for Mr. Herbert Schautschick who passed away on July 18, 2006. He was 90 years of age. Rev. Michael Buchorn conducted the service. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Serbin. Pallbearers were Kenneth Krause, John Krause, James Krause, Elton Schautschick, Jerald Dunk and Carl Mertink, Jr. He was born in Bastrop County on December 30, 1915 to Alvin and Marie (Zoch) Schautschick. He and Hattie L. Mitschke were married on December 29, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin. He was a carpenter in the Houston area until his retirement in 1988 when he and Hattie moved back to the Serbin area. Herbert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hattie of Serbin, daughter, Zelda and A.R. “Russ” Richards of Missouri City; 2 sons, Kermit and Dee Schautschick of The Woodlands and Herbert, Jr. and Lora Schautschick of Ruidoso, NM; 2 grandchildren: Adam Herbert Richards of Dallas and Crystal Lee Schautschick of New Mexico; 2 sisters-in-law, Louise Schautschick of Houston and Sophie and Marvin Pampell of Serbin, and brother-in-law, Vestin and Alma Mitschke also of Serbin. His parents and 4 brothers, Oswalt, William, Arthur and Erwin Schautschick preceded him in death. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1942 – 1946 in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of the American Legion Post #276 in Giddings, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas. |
