Ann Lorraine Blaha

October 30, 2006

Funeral services for Ann Lorraine Blaha, 46, of Victoria and formerly of Cuero were held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria with Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Burial followed in Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.

Mrs. Blaha, co-owner of Blaha Land Management, died on Monday, October 30, 2006 in Houston following a 13-month battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Prause.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Blaha of Victoria; her children, Britney Diane Blaha and Christopher Michael Blaha of Victoria; her parents, Ben and Shirley (Pickett) Prause, Sr. of Cuero; her sisters, Laura Dolezal of Victoria and Catherine Rabke also of Victoria; 2 brothers, Ben “Butch” Prause Jr. of Cuero and Mark Prause of Cuero.

Memorials may be made to the Blaha Children’s Fund c/o Trust Texas Bank, 2701 Sam Houston Drive, Victoria, Texas 77904.

James Vance (Jim) Jones

September 3, 1919 – November 5, 2006

Jim Jones, 87, died on November 5, 2006 at his home in Rockdale. Rev. John Warren will conduct the memorial service at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on Wednesday, November 8, 2006.

Jim was born on September 3, 1919 in Burnet County to Andrew Ernest and Nora (McLean) Jones. He married Montez Rhodes of San Saba on January 10, 1943. He worked for Brown and Root on construction of Ft. Hood, then the dams for the Texas Highland Lakes. From 1952 – 1981, he worked for Alcoa in Rockdale and became an Electrical Maintenance Superintendent. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Montez Jones of Rockdale; sons, J.K. Jones and wife Tonia of Houston and Andrew E. Jones, III of San Antonio; daughter, Kimberly Jones Pribble and husband James of Austin; 7 grandchildren, Andrew E. Jones, IV, Jennifer Jones, Jonathan Ryan Jones, James Brandon Jones, Cyril Vance Jones, Edward McLean Jones, and Anthony James Jones.

He was drafted into the US Army in 1940 and transferred to Army Air Corps, where he became a B-26 pilot. He flew 52 missions during WWII. After WWII, he attended Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. He served as Scout Master and as a member of the Rockdale City Council and was a current member of the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans.

Dorothy Dell Cook King

January 17, 1930 – November 4, 2006

Mrs. Dorothy King, 76, of Houston, passed away on November 4, 2006 at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital in Houston. The funeral service was at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on November 7, 2006. A private burial was held. Rev. Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church in Rockdale officiated. Pallbearers were Tommy King, Ronnie King, Sammy King, Pete Ware, Billy Ware and Terry Box.

Mrs. King was born on January 17, 1930 in Rockdale to Ollie and Carrie Mathews Cook. She was a graduate of Rockdale High School. She was married to Charles King on October 5, 1968 in Mexico and was a homemaker. Her parents and sister, Pearl Lumpkins precede her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Charles of Houston; 5 sons, Tommy King and wife Sharon of Rockport, Ronnie King and wife Lori of Harpers Ferry, WV, Sammy King and wife Tina of Cleveland, TN; Pete Ware of Houston and Billy Ware and wife Anita of Houston; 2 daughters, Donna Cooper and husband George of Houston and Janet Box and husband Terry of Houston; sister, Hazel Daniel and husband Charlie of Missouri City. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
