March 17, 1945 – November 15, 2006 Rachel Dunn, 61, passed away on November 15, 2006 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Herman L. Nelson, Jr. on November 18, 2006 at New Hope Baptist Church in Rockdale. Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lorenzo Robertson, Albert R. McBride, Kendrick White, John L. Robertson, Jr., Billy Joe Tindle, and Oliver Horton. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jerry Myers, John D. Dunn, Jr., Allen K. Dunn, Sr., Allen K. Dunn, Jr., and Fredrick Dunn. Rachel was born in Edge, Texas on March 17,1945 to Sam and Beulah (Curry) Harris. On November 30, 1963, she married John D. Dunn, Sr. in Bryan, Texas. She was a housewife. Her parents and 10 siblings preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, John, of Rockdale, sons, John D. Dunn, Jr., of Rockdale, Allen K. Dunn, Sr. of Pflugerville and Fredrick Dunn of Elgin, daughter, Regina Myers of Rockdale, brother, Louis Harris of Houston, sisters, Eva Mae Wilson and Betsy Taylor, both of Bryan. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. January 9, 1920 - November 14, 2006 Billie Franklin, 86, of Rockdale, passed away November 14, 2006 at Richards Memorial Hospital. Rev. Juan Trevino of Brownsville, TX conducted the memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale on November 18, 2006. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. Mrs. Franklin was born on January 9, 1920 in Birmingham, Alabama to Grady and Stella Flynn Mosley. She was married to Hal D. Franklin on April 14, 1942 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on 1987. She had lived in Rockdale for the past 53 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rockdale where she was the church organist for over 50 years. She also belonged to the Linwood Acres Garden Club and Matinee Musical Club, and was a member of several bridge clubs in Rockdale. She is survived by her son, John M. Franklin and wife, Lyn of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Jennie Hamm and Tom Franklin; great grandchildren, Rebecah, Luke and Joshua Hamm; brother, Terry Mosley of Hendersonville, NC. Box 1630, Rockdale, TX 76567 February 11, 1962 – November 16, 2006 Elizabeth Fleck, 44, died on November 16, 2006 in Burkburnett, Texas. Rev. Doug Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church conducted graveside services on Monday, November 20, 2006 in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Mrs. Fleck was born in Houston on February 11, 1962 to Huey Patrick and Norma (Locklin) Lamar. She and Dan Fleck were married on December 8, 1986. Her parents and brother, Brian Keith Lamar, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Dan, of Burkburnett, daughter, Autumn Fleck of Burkburnett, and aunts, Jo Bird of Rockdale and Sue Simmons of Boyd, Texas. April 5, 1917 – November 20, 2006 Bernhard Faske, 89, of Lincoln, passed away on November 20, 2006 at Marbridge Villa Nursing Center in Austin. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim with burial in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 24, 2006. Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the Phillips & Luckey Chapel. Mr. Faske was born on April 5, 1917 at the Family Farm, Manheim, Texas. His parents were Wilhelm and Bertha Behrend Faske. He and Aileen Iselt were married on January 9, 1949 in Lexington. He was a farmer and rancher and served in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, and George Faske, Emil Faske, Pauline Waldrop, Henry Faske, Louise Urban, Rudolph Faske, Amalie Melcher, Edward Faske, Erich Faske and Helen Faske. He is survived by his wife Aileen of Manheim; sons, August Bernhard Faske and wife Carolyn of Austin; Bernhard E. Faske and wife, Shirley, also of Austin; daughter, Pauline V. Falke and husband, Jerry of Fedor; grandson, Chris Falke of Fedor; granddaughters: Carrie Mason and Bradley of Arizona, Melinda McGlaun and Willie of Buda and Cammie Faske of Austin; sister Elenor Schroeder of Fredricksburg. August 8, 1926 – November 15, 2006 Dorothy Goodman, 80, died on November 15, 2006. Graveside service was held on November 16, 2006 at Klein Memorial Park in Tomball, Texas. Mrs. Goodman was born in Kingsland, Arkansas on August 8, 1926 to Louis Thomas and Edna Aletha Rivers McKinney. She married M.K. Dick Goodman on April 23, 1945 in Kingsland, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by two daughters, one sister, Juanita Shaver of Arkansas, two grandsons, three granddaughters, ten great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews. September 21, 1952 - November 6, 2006 Donald Ray Hilbers, 54, of Temple, died on November 6, 2006 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Graveside services were held on November 8, 2006 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Mr. Hilbers was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on September 21, 1952 to Linwood and Anna Hilbers. He was a truck driver. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his longtime companion, Dorothy Baker of Temple, sons, Cody and Bradley Hilbers of Rockdale and Joseph Hilbers of Arkansas and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Billy Hilbers of Golden, Texas and sister, Judy Harris and husband Larry of Cisco, Texas. August 30, 1926 – November 15, 2006 Charles Meyer, 80, of Dime Box, passed away on November 15, 2006 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Rev. Susie Schnelle and Ed Truelson, S.A.M. conducted the funeral service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dime Box on November 18, 2006. Burial was in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Shows, Thomas Sharp, Frank Sharp, Ryan Orsak, Michael Thacker and Bobby Thompson. Charles was born in Lexington on August 30, 1926 to Charley H. and Frieda Augusta Wernecke Meyer. He and Maxine Riske were married June 13, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dime Box. He worked for the Hannes Gin in Dime Box and then for the Southern Pacific Railroad. A US Army during WWII, he was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He moved to Houston in 1947 where he worked as a carpenter helping to build some of the tallest buildings in Houston. After retiring in 1983, he and Maxine moved back to Dime Box. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Meyer and sister, Delores McCarrell. He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Dime Box, brother, Calvin Mayer of Woodville, 2 sisters-in-law, Florice and Jerry Vavra and Ruby Sharp all of Dime Box. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Meyer was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dime Box where he served on the church council and sang in the choir for many years. He was also the cemetery sexton for St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dime Box. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and was always willing to offer a helping hand to his family and friends. Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions to the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Fund in Dime Box. February 13, 1913 - November 20, 2006 Mary “Ruth” Harper Thompson,formerly of Houston, passed awayMonday morning, November 20, 2006. She was 93. Ruth was born February 13, 1913 in Headsville, Texas to Walter ‘Acy’ and ‘Icy’ Paralee Harper. She married Melton Loyd Thompson on October 17, 1936. Ruth provided for her family as a homemaker. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melton “Cuz” Thompson, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Lloyd Wayne and Paula Thompson of Crockett; granddaughter and family Mellanee and LaFate Roberts and Alex Stevens of Sapula, Oklahoma; granddaughter and family Marci “Maggie” and Richard Beasley and Matthew, Michael Wayne, Stephen Earl of Lexington; great granddaughter Courtney and James Cordero of Bryan; great grandson and family Cary and Lindsay Devoll and Sierra, Colton, Stormi and Chet of Stroud, Oklahoma; nieces Wanda and Tom Brinkley of Houston, Margie Taylor of California, Mildred Burlingame of Arizona and nephew Bill Rogers of Canton; and countless friends.Burial will be conducted on Friday, November 24, in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Limestone County, Texas. |
