January 20, 1920 – December 4, 2006 Mrs. Etta Beason, 86, passed away December 4, 2006 at her home in the Sharp Community, where she had lived since 1972. Rev. Larry Griffith of First Baptist in Thorndale will conduct the funeral service at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6. Burial will be in the Locklin Cemetery near San Gabriel. Mrs. Beason was born in Chester, Texas on January 20, 1920 to James William and Edna (Netherlin) Wylie, Jr. She and Dan Beason were married on July 5, 1941 in Chester in Tyler County. Her parents, a grandson, Todd Beason and brothers: James and Calvin Wylie and Cleveland Dominy preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Dan of Sharp; sons, William E. Beason and wife, Juanita of Rockdale and Curtis H. Beason and wife, Shirley of Sharp; daughter, Melba J. Beason Turnbow and husband James Ronald of San Marcos; grandchildren: Daniel Heine and wife, Irma of Sweetwater, Dana Vance and husband Greg of Lago Vista, Cary Beason and wife Stacy of Rockdale, Tammy Harris and husband Jack of Como, Kendal Beason and wife Sharla of League City and Amy Beason of Arlington; sisters, Vivian E. Cogbill of Jasper and Gladys Toney of Chester and 16 great grandchildren. July 28, 1930 – November 28, 2006 Nasario Garcia, Sr., 76, of Sharp, passed away November 28, 2006 at the Central Texas Hospital in Cameron. Rev. Edwin Kagoo of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale conducted the funeral service at St. Joseph Catholic Church on December 2, 2006. Burial was in the Sharp Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Lee Alonzo, Atilano Garcia, Michael Garcia, Joe Pena, Jr., Robert Alonzo, Jr., Robert Garcia, Jr. and Travis Pena. Nasario was born in Natalia, Texas on July 28, 1930 to Atilano and San Juana (Balderas) Garcia. He was self-employed as a farmer and had also worked for Tahoka & Jonah Cotton Gin. He and Elisa Perez were married in Waxahachie on September 19, 1955. Two daughters, Lamar Garcia and San Juanita Pena, his parents; brothers, Jose Marie and Freddie; sisters Amelia Aurosa and Manuela Chavarria; grandchildren Jimmy Garcia and Kimberly Pena preceded him in death. Surviving family members are his wife, Elisa Garcia of Sharp; 5 sons: Rojelio Garcia, Sr., Nasario Garcia, Jr., Robert Garcia, Sr., James Garcia, all of Sharp and Jimmy Garcia of Tahoka, Texas; 2 daughters, Mary Alonzo and Patricia Alonzo, both of Sharp; 3 brothers, Jesus Garcia of California, Dan Garcia of Tahoka and Johnny Garcia of Taylor. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. April 30, 1923 - November 28, 2006 Harrelle “Jack” Gowins, 83, of Giddings died on November 28, 2006 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in LaGrange. Rev. Robert Tiner conducted graveside services in the Giddings City Cemetery on November 29, 2006. Jack had never married. He is survived by the staff and residents of Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings. February 12, 1917 – November 28, 2006 Rufus Graves, 89, died on November 28, 2006 at his home in Sharp, Texas. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Carl Hudson of Meadowbrook Baptist in Rockdale at the Sharp Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Lilac Cemetery in the Lilac Community. Mr. Graves was born in Lilac on February 12, 1917 to Rufus Winton and Annie Sharp Graves. He and Owen Rachel Booker were married on April 4, 1944. He worked for 10 years with I.G.C. in Rockdale and was a rural mail carrier in Sharp and Lilac Community. He was a lifetime rancher and Master Mason for more than 50 years. His parents, sister, Marion Graves Summers and brother, F.A. Graves preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Owen Rachel Graves of Sharp, sons, John Randall Graves and Stanley Owen Graves and his daughter, Penelope Graves Redington all of Austin; grandchildren: Rachel Redington Werner, Towne Redington Williams, John Graves Redington and Owen Winton Sharp Graves; great granddaughter, Gibson Grace Werner; brother, Harold Graves of Rockdale; sisters, Artie Winton Graves Moore of Dallas and Billye Jean Graves Soderlund of Aptos, CA. A fifth generation Texan, he attended school in Lilac and Sharp and graduated from Rockdale High School in 1935. He attended North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington. During World War II, he served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps. Assigned to the Air Transport Command, he made approximately 75 South Atlantic crossings. Neelon, 70, of Bastrop, died at Lakeside Hospital on December 1, 2006. Mrs. Neelon was born in Arkansas on November 26, 1936 to Cassie and Fannie Wheeler Gibson. She worked as a nurse’s aid. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Janie and Troy Neal Tucker of Round Rock; 2 sisters, Ana Mae Sack of San Antonio and Faye Mark of Arkansas; a brother, Sam Gibson and a niece, Silvia Neelon. July 30, 1983 - Nov.29,2006 Crystal Ann Schane, 23, of Elgin passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006. She was born July 30, 1983 in Houston, Texas to Michael Vernon Schane and Teresa Michelle Judd Schane. Crystal was currently employed at Wal-Mart in Bastrop. She is survived by her parents; Michael and Teresa Schane of Elgin, a brother; Robert Schane of Elgin and a sister Ashley Schane and niece Alexis Smothermon, Grandparents; Noel and Diane Clark, James and Mary Judd. Visitation was Friday, December 1, 2006, at Elgin Funeral Home, Services were held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Knobbs Springs Baptist Church with Interment at Knobbs Springs Cemetery, McDade, Texas.
