July 9, 1917 – January 5, 2007 Loraine Pauline Centers, 89, of Paige, died on January 5, 2007 at the Smithville Regional Hospital. The funeral service is at Ridgeway Cemetery at 10:00 am on Wednesday January 10, 2007, with Rev. Lee Eschberger officiating. Mrs. Centers was born in Galveston, Texas on July 9, 1917 to Hans and Hannah (Rosland) Pruns. She was married to E.E. Centers on March 25, 1946 in Galveston. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Rudolph Pruns and 2 sisters, Margaret and Doris. She is survived by her husband, E.E. Centers of Paige, daughter, Diane and Joe Gibson of North Ogden, UT; son Phillip and Theresa Centers of Paige; 5 grandchildren and her sister, Laverne Hilman of La Marque. Mrs. Centers had been employed in banking in Galveston before moving to Paige. She enjoyed gardening and loved living in the country. Memorials may be made to the Ridgeway Cemetery Fund in Paige, Texas or to the charity of one’s choice. June 3, 1914 – January 2, 2007 Myna Elizabeth Watson was born in Hicks, Texas on June 3, 1914 to Homer and Myrtie Watson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, and husband, John. She was baptized as a young woman after her confirmation of faith at Forest Grove Christian Church. About 1930 she met John Hornung and they were married in Rockdale on October 12, 1935. God granted them two daughters and sixty-eight years together. John and Myna lived on their land one mile east of Lexington. Myna completed CCCC Secretarial College in Waco and worked as John’s secretary in the early years of the Hornung Brothers Hatchery. She was a charter member of the First Christian Church in Lexington serving in many jobs during her 50 + years of membership. Some of her duties included church pianist, Sunday school teacher, board secretary, and member in the CWF. She was a very creative woman with varied skills and talents. She nurtured her family, her church, her garden, and numerous friends. She loved to banter with her sons-in-law and usually got the best of them. She had an uncanny skill of remembering names, birthdates, and people–she was a true people person. Her survivors include one sister, Eloise Brademan, one brother, Cecil Watson, daughter Ricki Hooper and husband Jimmie, daughter Lyn Brown and husband Don, granddaughter Lisa Stover and husband Scott, granddaughter Rhonda Cabello and husband Joel, granddaughter Stacy Mueller and husband Mark, grandson Stephen Brown, great grandson John Stover, great grandson Matthew Cabello, great granddaughter Julianna Cabello, great grandson Hudson Mueller, and great granddaughter Julia Mueller. Pallbearers were Keith Bexley, Stephen Brown, Bob Hasselbush, Mark Mueller, Scott Stover, and Paul Van Dorn. June 11, 1920 – January 5, 2007 Eldred Kiesling, 86, of Arlington, Texas died on January 5, 2007 in a Fort Worth hospital. He had lived in Arlington since 1979, moving there from Thorndale. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Walter Miller officiated. Mr. Kiesling was born on June 11, 1920 in Thorndale to Edwin E. and Frances (Runge) Kiesling. He was a cabinetmaker and a machinist most of his life. He served in the US Army during WWII and was discharged as a Sergeant in 1945. He and Levohn Stork were married on November 6, 1947 in Rockdale at the home of Pastor Sager. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gilbert Kiesling and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife, Levohn of Arlington; sons: David Kiesling and wife, Debbie of Arlington and Ken Kiesling and wife Rhonda also of Arlington; daughter, Tommy Jane Berry and husband Clyde of Burleson; brothers: Edwin Kirk Kiesling and wife Edna of Austin and Delma (Sloppy) Kiesling and wife Doris of Thorndale; brother-in-law, Tenner Stork and wife, Pat of Austin; sister-in-law, Wallis Kiesling of Taylor. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church in Arlington. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. October 3, 1924 – January 4, 2007 Susie Nall, 82, of Lexington passed away on January 4, 2007 in the Oakland Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. David Harkreader on January 8, 2007 at Eagle’s Wings Christian Center in Lexington. Burial was in the Adina Christian Cemetery. Mrs. Nall was born on October 3, 1924, in Blue, Texas to William Mark and Annie Lee Hammond Smith. She and Herman G. (Red) Nall were married on June 25, 1940. Her husband, parents, daughter, Rose Mary Nall, granddaughter, Karry Nall, 4 grandsons, Shane and Billy Turner, Jr. and Jim Bob and David Lee Nall, daughter-in-law, Leta Nall, son-in-law, Billy turner, Sr. 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by 5 children: Gene Nall, Doris Turner, Sheila and Ricky Billig, David and Melba Nall and Johanna and Terry Todd, all of Lexington; 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Jackie Smith of Abilene. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or to the Charity of one’s choice November 17, 1929 – January 5, 2007 Mary Jo Perry, 77, of Lexington passed away on January 5, 2006 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Rev. Linda O’Neal conducted the funeral service at Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington on January 8, 2007. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. Jo was born on November 17, 1929 in Lexington to Milton Pierce Tally, Jr. and Bessie Ellen (Browder) Tally. She and Robert (Bob) Perry were married on April 11, 1948. Her parents and 2 brothers, Milton Pierce (M.P.) Tally III and Curtis Browder Tally preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Bob, of Lexington, sister, Elsa Bess and Bob Thornton of Houston, 2 sisters-in-law: Doris Tally of Lexington and Elizabeth Judkins of Franklin; brother-in-law, Dr. George and Laura Thannisch of Lufkin and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and many close friends and neighbors. Mrs. Perry was a lifelong active and devoted member of the Lexington United Methodist Church where she also had served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed gardening and handwork. Memorials may be made to the Early Chapel Cemetery Fund in care of the Lexington United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice. Vaughn November 4, 1932 – December 22, 2006 Matthew T. Ruk, 74, passed away on December 22, 2006 at his home in Giddings. Rev. Chris Harrison conducted the funeral service at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings on December 27, 2006. Burial was in the Giddings Memorial Park. Mr. Ruk was born on November 4, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA to Matthew Thomas Ruk Sr. and Anna Silla Ruk. He was a truck driver. He married Elva “Nita” Hutchens in Giddings on March 1, 2003. Nita preceded him in death in 2005. He is survived by 2 daughters: Ruth O’Neill of Danville, PA and Lisa Zampetti of PA; 2 sons: Mark S. and Martin J. Ruk both of PA; 7 grandchildren: Brent Heimbach, Justin Ruk, Ashley Marr, Taylor and Abigail Ruk, Courtney and Samantha Zampetti; great grandchild, Carter Marr; sister, Margie Kitchen; 4 step children: John Wesley and Cathy Seeton of Alta Loma, CA, Shelley and Darrell Abke and Duston Rae Seeton all of Giddings; 9 step grandchildren: Brandy Keilberg of Giddings, Travis and April Chisolm of Houston, Cody and Wednesday Abke of Giddings, Blake Barker of CA, Cole and Savannah Seeton of CA, Deon Abke of Conroe, Aaron and Tara Abke of Conroe and Sean and Jenny Abke also of Conroe. Additional survivors include: 2 step great grandchildren: Kamyree Keilbert of Giddings and Caleb Aaron Chisolm of Houston, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
