January 10, 1994 - February 26, 2007 Ty Hunter Allert II, 13, died on Monday, February 26, 2007 in a tragic accident near his home in Lexington. A Committal Service was held on March 2, 2007 at Graham Cemetery in Blue, Texas. Lanny Tanton and Brad Schroeder officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Johnson, Bill Hopkins, Kevin Herron, Dwight McDuffie, Steve Hooker, Mike Embry, and Jason Holcomb. Paul Jetton served as honorary pallbearer. Hunter was born on January 10, 1994 in Austin to Ty Hunter and Merry (McDuffie) Allert. Hunter was a 7th grader at Lexington Middle School. He was an active individual who enjoyed football, weight lifting, bouldering, skate boarding and international collections. He enjoyed participating in the Youth Group at the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Ty and Merry Allert, 2 brothers, Chase and Aaron Allert all of Lexington; Grandparents: Roger and Jo Ann McDuffie of Houston and Buzzy and Margaret Allert of Dripping Springs; Aunts and Uncles: Dwight and Kathy McDuffie of Round Rock and Steve and Lesa Hooker of Frisco; Cousins: Keegan and Madison McDuffie of Round Rock and Grant and Rachel Hooker of Frisco. The family recommends making memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church in Lexington or to the Athletic Fund at Lexington ISD. November 5, 1949 – February 27, 2007 Mr. Adams was born in Houston on November 5, 1949 to Walter Edward and Hilda Wolff Adams. He was an insurance adjuster. He is survived by his mother, Hilda of Round Top, sisters: Katherine and Lee Hebert of Houston and Elizabeth and Donald Rowden of Waldeck; nephews: Kevin Hebert of College Station and David Hebert of Houston and his aunt, Carolyn Wolff of La Grange. He was preceded in death by his father. March 21, 1936 – February 22, 2007 Elmer Kobza of Schulenburg, died on February 18, 2007 at Columbus Community Hospital. He was 70. Pastor Sam Riccohone and Pastor Ellis McKenzie conducted the funeral at St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Schulenburg on February 22, 2007. Interment was in Praha. Pallbearers were Gerald Kobza, Bobby Joe Kobza, Mike Stewart, Robert Chumley, Bob Robitsche, and Dwayne Dawlearn. Mr. Kobza was born on March 21, 1936 in Engle, Texas. He attended grade school in Engle then Schulenburg schools. He married Sue Robertson on June 5, 1981 in Manvel, Texas. He was a plumbing estimator. He is survived by his wife, Sue; mother-in-law, Nora Robertson, daughters, Kelly Kobza of New Braunfels, Julie Boman of Alvin and Jill Jurica and husband Matt of Schulenburg; sons: Randy Kobza and wife Sharon of Austin, Gary Kobza of Sugarland and Brian Boman of Schulenburg; brother, Milton Kobza and wife Rose of Manvel, brother-in-law, Jimmie Dale Robertson and wife Belinda of Lexington and 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. March 2, 1915 – March 1, 2007 Mrs. Ella Lillie Knippa, 91, of Lincoln, passed away on March 1, 2007 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. Rev. Dale Bohm conducted the funeral service on March 4, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Burial was in the Giddings Memorial Park. Mrs. Knippa was born on March 2, 1915 in Lincoln to Engelbert and Agnes Pratho Reuther. She married Ludwig Knippa on February 14, 1936. November 2, 1944 – February 27, 2007 Paul Miller, 62, of Enid, OK, passed away on February 27, 2007 at his brother’s home in Enid. Rev. Bill Springer of Church of Christ in Helena, OK conducted the funeral service on March 2, 2007 in Enid. Graveside service was held on March 5, 2007 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. Mr. Miller was born November 2, 1944 in Rockdale to Isaac and Lucile Maxwell Miller. He worked for the railroad for many years and later owned and operated a bar and the Paul R. Miller Demolition Service in Enid for several years. His parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Isaac Martson of Palmdale, CA and Terrance Miller of Enid, OK; step daughter, Jamila Martson of Palmdale, CA and a host of step children; brothers: Johnny “Pete” Miller of Enid, Wilbert Miller of Oklahoma City, OK, Henry Miller of Rockdale, Don Miller of San Antonio, and Elmo Miller of Rockdale; sisters: Irene Johnson of Rockdale, Mary Allen of Rockdale, Linda Ford of Rockdale and Sandra McNeal of Tennessee. June 17, 1940 – February 26, 2007 Mattie Wade, 66, passed away on February 26, 2007 at her home in Serbin. Rev. Jarrid Younkin and Rev. John Jones conducted the funeral service at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings on February 28, 2007. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rockdale. Mrs. Wade was born on June 17, 1940 in Paducah, Texas to Doc and Mae Henry. She married Isaac Wade on October 12, 1990 in Giddings. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James Richard Cutlip, daughter, Geri Lynn Davis, sister, Opal and brother, Butch. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. December 26, 1947 – March 4, 2007 Linda Gail Powell of Rockdale passed away on Sunday March 4, 2007 in the Richards Memorial Hospital. Linda was born in Cameron on December 26, 1947 to Priestley and Alma Crane Tindall. She and Rick Powell were married on June 10, 1972 in Rockdale where she lived all her life. Her parents preceded her in death. April 6, 1936 – February 27, 2007 Mrs. Dorothy Walther, 70, passed away on February 27, 2007 at her home in Houston. Funeral services were conducted at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Giddings by Rev. Reuel J. Cooper. Burial was in the Giddings City Cemetery. Mrs. Walther was born in Lexington on April 6, 1936 to Alvin and Louise Lehmann Jatzlau. She and Elmo Walther were married on August 19, 1955 in Houston. Her husband, parents and numerous brothers and sisters preceded her in death. January 1, 1918 – February 28, 2007 Marvin Weise of Ledbetter died on February 28, 2007 at Monument Hill Nursing Center in La Grange. He was 89 years of age. Rev. Robert Tiner conducted the funeral service on March 3, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. Burial was in Giddings Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Richard Skolaut, Lloyd Goehring, Tim Culliver, Monty Mayer, Stephen Kasper and Jack Wiederhold. Mr. Weise was born on January 1, 1918 in Giddings to William and Mary Pauline Fischer Weise. He was a farmer/rancher. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edwin Weise. He is survived by numerous cousins and other relatives and friends. June 15, 1935 – February 23, 2007 Dorothy Ray Williams, 71, of Rockdale, died on February 23, 2007 in the Williamsburg Village Nursing Home in DeSoto, Texas. The funeral was held in the Pecan Street Church of Christ in Rockdale on March 3, 2007 with Rev. John Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Griffin Chapel Cemetery near Milano. Mrs. Williams was born on June 16, 1935 in Milam County to Johnny and Migheon (Lowe) Wesley. She married Barkley Williams who preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her son, Ambrose Williams of Griffin Chapel, brother Freddie Wesley and wife Gloria of Dallas; sisters: Vonnie Williams of Arlington, Jewel Callahan of Dallas and Jacquelin Smith of Dallas and sister-in-law, Gloria Gray of West Virginia. August 15, 1927 – March 3, 2007 Elton “Buddy” Cuthrell Wren was born on August 15, 1927 in Carlos, Texas to Cuthrell Elton Wren and Allie (nee Kolbachinski) Wren. Elton graduated from Livingston High School in 1944 and joined the United States Navy at age 17. He served on the U.S.S. Agenor, an L.S.T., in the Pacific Ocean. He received an Honorable Discharge in August of 1946. While attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, Elton supplemented his income by driving a taxi. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1950. He did his graduate work at Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas. Elton accepted the job of Veteran’s Coordinator in Sweetwater, Texas. He later became a public school teacher and taught in Goodrich, Smithville and Lexington. On June 15, 1952, Elton married Doris Beatrice Knippa at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, Texas with Rev. Ludwig Karcher officiating. This union was blessed with four sons: Curtis Elton, Michael Alan, Rodney Wayne and Byron Eugene. While living in Smithville, Elton took instructions in the Lutheran faith and was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran church on May 24, 1953 under the leadership of Rev. H.L. Wiederanders. In 1960, Elton became a Rural Mail Carrier in the Lexington area. He retired from his job in 1987 and devoted his life to raising cattle, quarter horses and registered miniature horses. As a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Elton served on many committees and held various offices including Elder and President. Elton is survived by his wife of 54 years; sons, Curtis and wife Charis of Brenham, Michael and wife Pamela of Austin, Rodney and wife Jessica of Dallas, and Byron and wife Karen of Lexington. Also eleven grandchildren; Callie Elizabeth, Caitlin Elaine and Cameron Elton of Brenham; Annette Eileen, Ellie Catherine and David Michael of Austin; Nicolas Aaron and Claire Marie of Dallas; Bailey Marie, Keldon Alex and Karley Ann of Lexington. One sister, Doris Jean Weiser and husband Elwood of Yoakum and their children: Lynetta Windsor and husband Cecil of Denver, Colorado; Peggy Weiser of Tomball; Vickie Kinder and husband David of San Antonio; William “Billy” Weiser and wife Lee Anne of Lexington. Also by numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Elton was preceded in death by both parents (mother in 1933 and father in 1977) and by two step mothers. Elton attained the age of 79 years, 6 months and 16 days. He went to sleep in Jesus at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Visitation was be held Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating. Burial followed in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were Billy Weiser, Gary Knippa, Robert Stuckey, Tom Kleinschmidt, Nick Gabriel and Scott Sanders.
