Shirley Ann Kunkel

November 6, 1938 - March 30,2007

Shirley Ann Kunkel, 68, of Rockdale, passed away on March 30, 2007 in the Seton Medical Center in Austin. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Nilo Figura on April 2, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Burial was in the Kunkel Family Cemetery near Rockdale.

Mrs. Kunkel was born on November 6, 1938 in Riesel, Texas to Gustav Louis and Selma Louise (Haverkamp) Lehrman. She was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel on April 6, 1952. She and Charles Lee Kunkel were married on July 7, 1956 in Riesel. She retired from the Community Bank of Trust where she was the Head Teller. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Lehrman Royder and brother Harold Lehrman.

She is survived by her husband, Charles of Rockdale, sons: Douglas Charles Kunkel of Cameron and Darron Lee Kunkel of Rockdale; daughter, Denise Lynn Kunkel Payne of Rockdale; 6 grandchildren: Jamie Lee Kunkel, Tabitha Gayle Kunkel, Kristian Michelle Kunkel, Justin Ryan Kunkel, Wesley Garrett Payne and Laramie Paige Payne, and sister, Darlene Lehrman Clark of Rockdale.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.

C. Herbert Paseur

November 6, 1925 – March 30, 2007

C. Herbert Paseur, FAIA, 81, of Houston, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at his home in Fayette County, Texas from complications of ALS. Herb was born November 6, 1925 in Walnut, MS to Charles Leonard and Zora Reed Paseur. He grew up in Memphis, TN.

Herb joined the US Marine Corps upon turning 17 and served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. After discharge in 1945, Herb attended Memphis State University, and was an honors graduate of Oklahoma A&M, now OSU, with degrees in Architecture and Engineering. Upon graduation, he was employed by the architect Al Aydelot in Memphis, but soon returned to Oklahoma to join the architectural firm of Caudill Rowlett Scott. He remained with CRS, eventually serving as President and CEO from 1971, when the firm went public, until his retirement in 1981. Following his retirement, he continued to serve the company as a member of their Board of Directors and Chairman of the Executive Committee. During his tenure with CRS, he also served on the boards of the Alley Theatre and Park Tower National bank (now Prosperity Bank). Among other community activities, he was president of AIA Houston in 1971-72 and chaired the 1972 AIA Convention in Houston.

Herb was an avid golfer and enjoyed other sports such as tennis and bird hunting with his friends. He traveled extensively, both for business and pleasure. He was a loyal friend and a devoted family man. Herb married Jerre Mabry on May 14, 1966 and she later adopted his two children from his first marriage to Audrey Morrow.

Herb is survived by his wife; his daughter, Linda Sololsky and her husband, Tex of Tomball; his son, Reed Paseur and his wife, Debbie of Bellaire; his five grandchildren: Jeff Thompson, Tomball; Tamara Ciasullo and her husband, Giuseppe, Alba, Italy; Jeremy Sololsky, Tomball; Michael Paseur and his wife, Stephanie, Houston; Jenna Paseur, Bellaire: his 3 great grandchildren: Brandon, Jeffrey and Alexis Thompson. He was predeceased by his parents and his two sisters, Eloyce Erwin and Donnelle Paseur.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral services, but a gathering to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends in the near future.

Lorraine Burney Wilson

April 25, 1914 – March 31, 2007
Lorraine Wilson, 92, died on March 31, 2007 at her home in Gause, where she had lived most of her life. A memorial service will be held on April 4, 2007 at Gause Baptist Church with Rev. Don Hancock of Macedonia Hix Baptist Church and Rev. Jimmy Sanders of Gause Baptist Church officiating.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Riesel, Texas on April 25, 1914 to James Burney and Lela Wright. She married Sylvan G. Wilson on December 31, 1935 in Rockdale. Her parents, granddaughter, Katherine Kruppa, brother, Walter Burney and sister, Zelma Smith preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Sylvan of Gause, son, Tom Wilson and wife, Dori of Gause, daughter, Jo Jo Kruppa of Bay City and sister, Ethyl Ely of Gause. Also surviving are five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Macedonia Hix Baptist Church in the Hix Community. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and ranching.
