July 25, 1925 – April 20, 2007 Louis Bayer, 81, died on April 20, 2007 at the Temple Living Center West in Temple. Funeral services were conducted at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings followed by burial in the Ridgeway Cemetery in Paige, with Father Jim Olnhausen officiating. Mr. Bayer was born on July 25, 1925 In Hempstead to Emil and Amanda Bayer. He spent most of his adult life in Paige where he worked at the Humble Oil and Refining Company gas station for 25+ years. He had many friends in the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Hermann and the entire community. His parents, sisters, Anna and Alma Bayer, Lillie Schuman and brothers: Edwin, Richard, William and Arthur Bayer preceded him in death. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorials may be made to St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. August 30, 1938 – April 20, 2007 Mary Pauline Barber, 68 passed away on April 20, 2007 at her home in Rockdale. Rev. Steve Bishop conducted graveside services on April 23, 2007 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Mrs. Barber lived in Rockdale for 15 years, moved to Fairfield for 15 years, then moved back to Rockdale in 1995. She was born in Bluefield, W.VA on August 30, 1938 to Rosco and Florence Pennington. She was a hair stylist and cosmetologist and she worked a number of years at Rockdale Beauty Shope. She and Royce Barber were married on January 31, 1958 in Lubbock. Her parents, sister, Gussie Emerson and brothers: Barny, Rosco and James Pennington preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Royce of Rockdale; sons: Richard Barber of San Antonio, Greg Barber of Rockdale and Kevin Barber of Dallas; daughters: Regina Baxter of Temple and Donna Mantey and husband Kenneth of Rockdale and grandchildren Lee and Stephanie Mantey. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. March 2, 1948 - April 10, 2007 She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, William; son Stacy Brown of Trinity, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Blythe Brown of League City, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Brandy and Shawn Shirley of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Lynda Wrinkle of Lexington, Raymond and Janie Wrinkle of Portland, Texas, and Rita Wrinkle of Giddings; sister and brother-in-law Linda Kay and Johnny Whitake of Azle, Texas and many other loving family members and friends. She was “Oma” to seven grandchildren: Brittany, Cody, Jordan, Devan, Tad, Stacie and Dalton. Artistically talented, she saw the beauty in everything and everyone. She now blesses heaven with the love and humor that has been blessing her family and friends for so many years. A beautiful life has transitioned. Services were held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Central Baptist Church in Bryan under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home of Huntsville. Interment followed at the Brown Family Cemetery in Grimes County. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at www.shmfh.com January 4, 1905 - April 23, 2007 Mrs. Quinney will be laid to rest in the Lexington Cemetery beside her husband Ernest C. “Buck” Quinney. She and Buck were married on January 13, 1926. The minister married them during a rainstorm in their car at the south side of the Lexington United Methodist Church. Buck preceded her in death on January 29, 1978. Also preceding her in death were her parents, grandchildren: Neal Louis Knipstein and Gina Rae Quinney; brother, Charles Marvin “Pete” Jensen and sisters: Maudie Dismukes, Clara Mathis and Madie Reed. She is survived by her son, E.R. “Amos” Quinney and wife Elaine of Lexington; daughter, Jessie “Deckie” Knipstein and husband Louis of Lexington; granddaughters: Tana Renfroe and husband Ned and Trina Edwards and husband Jack all of Lexington, and great grandson Timothy Neal Edwards. Serving as pallbearers are Timothy Edwards, Ray Maass, Gerald Mathis, Terry Mathis, Don Mathis, and Keith Mathis. All her other nephews are serving as honorary pallbearers. Box 426, Lexington, Texas 78947 October 19, 1920 - April 16, 2007 Mrs. Dennis was born in Milano on October 19, 1920 to Scott and Lillie Alma Davenport. She and Colgate R. Dennis were married on September 22, 1941 in the First Baptist Church in Milano. They lived in Houston from 1941 to 2002 and lived in Milano for the past five years. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: J.D. and Clarence Davenport, Sr. and her sister, Velma Davenport. She is survived by her husband, Colgate, of Milano, son, Tommy L. Dennis and wife Terry of Milano; grandchildren: Terry Scott Dennis of College Station and Tamra Vance and husband Stephen of Milano; great grandchildren: Hunter and Cody Vance of Milano; sister, Thelma Davenport Williams of Rockdale and a host of nieces and nephews. Alma was a 1938 graduate of Milano High School where she was the Valedictorian. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church in Houston. January 30, 1957 - April 21, 2007 Bobby was born to John M. Ferrell and Louise (Hill) Chesser on January 30, 1957 in Brownwood. He was a lineman electrician. His father, his brother, and a niece, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons: Brandon Ferrell of Conroe, Clint Ferrell of Comanche and Charlie Tungate; mother, Louise Chesser and husband John, step mother, Jean Ferrell, Special Friend, Tammy Tungate and boys; grandchildren: Hayley, Madison and Brianna; sisters: Gail Solomon of Rockdale, Lisa Hord of Rockdale and Kendra Ferrell of Katy July 24, 1942 – April 21, 2007 Howard was born on July 24, 1942 in Brenham to Rudolph and Elvera Weigelt. He was a rodeo cowboy. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, John Howard Weigelt of North Carolina, daughter, Zynda Cherene and Scott Jackson of North Carolina; brother, Charles Rudy and Fay Weigelt of Austin; sisters: Mary and Andy Newton of Giddings and Renee’ and James Boarders of Austin and numerous nieces, nephews and many very special friends. Mr. Weigelt spent most of his free time with his horses. He also enjoyed deer hunting and watching baseball. |
