Lillian Carol Elkins
Sr.

February 11, 1922 – May 24, 2007

Lillian Carol Elkins, 85, of Paige, passed away on May 24, 2007 at the Warm Springs Rehab Center in Luling. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Tim Clayton and Rev. Jack Burton at First Baptist Church in Giddings on May 28, 2007. Burial was in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Mrs. Elkins was born in Houston on February 11, 1922. Her parents were Ralph and Katherine Rector. She and Daniel Monroe Elkins were married in Boston, Massachusetts on May 29, 1943. She was a Registered Nurse and had worked with Baptist Memorial Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Houston. Her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Dan of Paige; 5 children: Dan and wife, Meryll Elkins of Nashville, TN, David and wife, Pat Elkins also of Nashville, Kathy and husband, Alan Hunt of Rosenberg, Ralph and wife, Andee Ann Elkins of Baytown and Elizabeth and husband, Jim Gilbert of Shady Shores; 9 grandchildren: Lauren and husband Matt Hayes, Kevin Elkins and Lisa and husband John Morris all of Nashville, Chris Elkins of Charlotte, NC, Nathan Hunt of Rosenberg, Angela and husband Fabian Perales of San Diego, CA, Michael Elkins of Baytown, Jim Gilbert of Austin and Daniel Gilbert of Shady Shores; 1 great grandson, Jack Morris of Nashville; 2 cousins: Frank Miller of Ruston, LA and Rector Davis of Corpus Christi.

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Elkins, Jim Gilbert, Daniel Gilbert, Michael Elkins, Kevin Elkins, and Nathan Hunt. Honorary pallbearers were the past and present deacons of First Baptist Church.

The Elkins family recommends making memorials to the American Heart Association or the Giddings Public Library.

Johnny A. Morrison

May 16, 1914 – May 25, 2007

Johnny Alexander Morrison, 93, of Paige, died on May 25, 2007 at the Giddings Healthcare Center in Giddings. Bro. Mike Pierce conducted the funeral and burial services at the Barnes Family and Friends Cemetery in Paige on May 28, 2007.

Mr. Morrison was born in Thorndale on May 16, 1914 to Daniel M. and Tallie Morrison. He and Flora B. Medlock were married on December 22, 1935 in Elgin. He was a mechanic. His parents, son, Daniel Morrison, great grandson, Kyle Matthew Barnes, 3 sisters: Ruby, Ruth and Gladys and 2 brothers: Lil Dude and Aubrey Lee preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Flora of Paige; 3 children: Beverly June Dobrowsky of Giddings, Johnnie Faye and Billy Barnes of Paige and Helen Marie and Wayne Moore of Liberty Hill; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Estelle Scott of Tyler and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Morrison was an automotive mechanic, a “Jack of all Trades” who could fix almost anything.

Annie Marie Nelson

May 7, 1922 - May 19, 2007
Annie Marie Nelson, 85, died on May 19, 2007 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She had been a Milam County resident for the past 68 years. Rev. Calvin Springer conducted the funeral service on May 23, 2007 at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial was in Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale. Pallbearers were Dodd Sullivan, Dean Sullivan, Jonathan Muston, Mark Muston, Rick Nelson, John Stewart, Anthony Koller and Billy Dees, Sr.

Mrs. Nelson was born on May 7, 1922 in Mexia to John L. and Susie Estell (Collins) Sullivan. She married Henry W. Nelson on February 15, 1958 in Rockdale. Her husband, stepson, William Charles Nelson; brothers: Clyde R., Loyde Nick and Roy Lee Sullivan and sister, Lucille Holt preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son Wesley Nelson and wife Pam of Rockdale; brothers: George W. Sullivan and Maggie of Palestine and Carl Dean Sullivan and Lucy of Texas City; sister, Margie Golf and Jim of Texas City; grandchildren: Amber, Colby, Chelsea, Anthony and Rick and great grandchildren, Christina and Cory.

She attended Rockdale Full Gospel Church and enjoyed her yard work.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Edna Marie Umlang

March 20, 1924 – May 26, 2007
Mrs. Edna Marie Umlang, 83, of Lincoln, died at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange on May 26, 2007. The funeral service was at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincoln on May 29, followed by burial in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Dale Bohm officiated. Pallbearers were Lance Umlang, Brian Umlang, Kyle Umlang, Marshall Umlang, Jeremy Weiser, Kevin Stobbs and Willie Spiller.

Mrs. Umlang was born on March 20, 1924 in Lincoln to Oscar and Alma (Proske) Boriack. She married Victor W. Umlang on September 28, 1947. Her husband, Victor, parents, son Edward, sister Amanda Boriack and brother Edmund Boriack and 2 brothers-in-law: Winfred Schimank and Herbert Winkler preceded her in death.

Surviving family includes her daughter, Pat and don Backen of DLincoln; 2 sons: Dennis and Cindy Umlang of Conroe and Vernon and Sandra Umlang of Lincoln; 8 grandchildren: Monica and Willie Spiller of Bastrop, Nicole and Kevin Stobbs of College Station, Caitlin Backen of Lincoln, Kimberly and Jeremy Weiser of Lincoln, Marshall Umlang and fiancée Courtney Sanchez of Lincoln; Kyle, Lance and Brian Umlang of Conroe; 4 great grandchildren: Landon Stobbs of College Station, Josh, Taylor and Nathan Spiller of Bastrop; 3 sisters: Elsie Schimank of Lincoln, Mary and Victor Schimank of Lincoln and Alleen Winkler of Fedor and 1 brother, Alfred and Bernice Boriack of Lincoln.
