Riney was a businessman and cattle rancher for most of his life. He worked at First State Bank in Dime Box for close to 20 years, serving as the President for several years. After difficulty finding feed for his cows on his own schedule, Riney and Monica decided to open the Bar S Pecan House in Dime Box in the early 1980’s. He was a jack-of-all trades and spent time as a cattle rancher, hog farmer, egg-farmer, pecan farmer, insurance man and oilman. He enjoyed ranching, hunting with his buddies (Claude Flippin, Raymond Jurica, Mike Simmang, Jake Garbs, Kicker Beran, Edwin Zgabay and Frank Riske), playing the slots in Las Vegas and watching his children play sports and rodeo, marry and start their own families. He was a man of wit and humor and was never too busy to share a joke or a story of the good ‘ole days. Although his health slowed him down physically in the last few years, he continued to enjoy attending army reunions, playing the lottery, checking the cows, driving around with Boomer and then Sonny dog, watching rodeos and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He continued to be full of dreams, thoughts, prayers and hopes for a better life for him and his family. He was a generous man who touched all of our lives in a special way. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
