Billy E. Bellview

October 21, 1928 - July 19, 2007

Billy Bellview, 78, of Lexington, passed away on July 19, 2007 at Richards Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1928 in Coahoma, Texas to Phillip and Ruby Lee (Covington) Bellview. He was retired after 25 years as a car salesman. Prior to moving to Lexington 16 years ago, he lived in Texas City.

He and Mary Jo Rogers were married in Texas City on October 24, 1950.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Lexington; sons: Kelly Bellview and wife Donna of Dripping Springs, Pat Bellview and wife Karen of Lexington, and Dennis Bellview of Austin; daughter, Cindy Adams and husband, Ja of Bastrop; brother, Louis Bellview and wife Sybil of San Leon; sister Louise Sledge of Arizona; Grand children: Nikole Kennan, Ashley, Megan, Bridgette, Victoria, and Lonnie Bellview; great grandchildren: Heather, Colton and Cross Kennan.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1947 to 1952. He was a member of American Legion Post #6 in Lexington.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Ruben Bounds

March 18, 1918 - July 8, 2007

Ruben Bounds, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend of many, passed away July 8, 2007. He was born in Lee County on March 18, 1918, to John William and Dora Ellen (Hobbs) Bounds.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and grandson. He is survived by son David and wife Judy, granddaughter Melanie and husband Rod, and great-grandchildren Colby, Dillon, and Alex. Also surviving him are daughter Gay and husband Clarence, granddaughter Shannon and husband Keith, and great-granddaughter Rachel Ellen. He was loved and admired by his family and well respected by his extended family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Graveside services were held July 10, 2007, at Mesquite Cemetery, with Reverend Reuel Cooper officiating and arrangements by Phillips and Lucky Funeral Home at Rockdale.

Charles Allen Debney

November 12, 1952 - July 17, 2007
Charles Allen Debney, 54, of Bryan, passed away on July 17, 2007 in M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He was a US Army Chaplain. Funeral services were held at Central Baptist Church in College Station on July 20, 2007. Burial was in the Kurten Cemetery in Kurten, Texas.

Charlie was born in Beaumont, Texas on November 12, 1952 to Buck and Estelle (Sims) Debney. He and Margie Carter were married in Trinidad, Texas on July 17, 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Margie, of Bryan, Mother, Estelle Debney of Jasper; 2 sons: Karl and Beth Debney of Lafayette, LA, and Chuck and Kacy Debney of College Station; sister, Suzy and Bill Mudge of San Antonio; parents-in-law, Jim and Janie Carter of Giddings; sister-in-law, Fran and Tim Pitts of Giddings; 2 brothers-in-law: David and Tammy Carter and Jimmy and Vicki Carter all of Rockdale. His father preceded him in death.

Charlie attended West Point Military Academy, Baylor University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was currently enrolled in the Doctoral program at Texas A&M University.

Charlie pastored churches in Little City, OK, Lytle, Texas and Wildewood, Texas. He was also employed with Marketplace Ministries in Louisiana and Restorative Justice with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department.

Charlie also served his Lord and country as a military Chaplain in North Carolina, New Jersey, Germany, California, Colorado and Illinois. Charles served in the US Army for 16 years before receiving his medical discharge and obtaining the rank of major. He enjoyed mission work, traveling, feeding his squirrels and his model trains, which he never got a chance to set up.

Shirley Patricia Kimey

June 1, 1927 - July 22, 2007
Shirley Kimey, 80, of Paige, passed away in Brackenridge Hospital in Austin on Sunday, July 22, 2007. She was born in Chandler, Arizona on June 1, 1927 to Sam and Ida Mae Dunne.

She and Milton Leroy Kimey were married on March 2, 1944. Her husband preceded her in death in 1961. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Matthew Sherwood Kimey; daughter-in-law Joan Kimey; 4 brothers, Doug, Frank, Sam and Clyde and 2 sisters: Lela Mae Henry and Molly Lamberson.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Kimey-Murphy and husband, Clint of Thorndale; 3 sons: Gary Leroy Kimey of Paige, Michael Edward and Vada Kimey of Lago Vista, and Steven Wescott and Phyllis Kimey of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren; brother, Laurel (Ronnie) Dunne of Arizona; sister, Jo Ann Ashley of Arizona; special friends: Bobby and Tammy Blue of Giddings and Howard and Sue Schultz of Giddings; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Shirley was a diversified woman who would try anything. She was a friend to many and always had time for anyone who would drop in. Her door was always open.

Funeral services will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Alfred Herbert Knippa

October 12, 1927 – July 18, 2007
Alfred Herbert Knippa was born in Lincoln, Texas on October 12, 1927 to Ben and Ella (Schroeder) Knippa. He was a draftsman working in furniture design. He and Mary Ann Kilian were married on August 18, 1950. Mary Ann survives him.

In addition to his wife, Mary Ann of Smithville, he is survived by his sons: Rev. Greg and wife Alicia Knippa of Belton and Charles Knippa of Flatonia; grandchildren: Jonathan and Rachel Knippa of La Porte, Andrew and Adam Knippa of Belton; brothers and sisters: Edna and husband Bob Gloyna of Austin, Otto and wife Mabel Knippa of Trinity, Howard and wife Maxine Knippa of Bertram, Leonard and wife Estelle Knippa of Deer Park, Kenneth and wife Sarah Knippa of Beaumont, and Marilyn and husband Lonnie Raschke of Taylor; sisters-in-law: Geneva and husband Don Peyman of Houston and Louise Knippa Genz of Pflugerville.

Rev. James Richardson conducted the funeral service in Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville on July 20, 2007. Burial was in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Leonard “Red” Saegert

May 12, 1930 – July 22, 2007
Leonard “Red” Saegert, 77, died on July 22, 2007 in St. David’s Medical Center in Austin. Rev. Alvin Epperson will conduct the funeral service on July 25, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Paige. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery in Paige.

Mr. Saegert was born in Hills Community on May 12, 1930 to Walter and Alvina (Baasen) Saegert. He married Barbara Herms on January 30, 1970. He was a cabinetmaker. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Shorty and Marvin Saegert and father-in-law, Bruno Herms.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Saegert, of Paige; children: Layton and Carla Saegert of Austin, Joscylin and Bryan Patrick of Elgin, Shannon and Tracy Saegert of McDade, Michael Saegert of Austin, Kenny and Charla Saegert of Elgin and Kimberly Saegert and special friend Jack Gaines of Bryan; grandchildren: Justin Meyer of Elgin, Katie Saegert of McDade, Brady and Tucker Saegert of Elgin; brothers and sisters: Myrtle and James Behrend of McDade, Rose Mary and Jim Millner of Paige, Henry Saegert and special friend Sue Gadd of Smithville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Claudine Saegert of Paige and Roy and Mary Kay Herms of Paige; mother-in-law, Erna Herms of Paige; numerous nieces and nephews.

Red will be remembered as a kind and loving family man. He took great joy in many things including roping, dominos, ranching, and dancing with his wife. They spent many weekends going to dances. His family was everything to him and he especially loved playing with the grandchildren. Red was also known to be an instigator…..He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Cemetery or St. John Lutheran Church in Paige.

Robert F. Thompson

September 17, 1922 – July 22, 2007
Robert F. “Bob” Thompson, 84, died on July 22, 2007 at his home in Rockdale. A private family service was held in Llano County, Texas. A visitation/reception will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 11:30 a.m.

Bob was born in San Antonio on September 17, 1922 to Morris David and Betty (Finger) Thompson. He and Barbara Kuhlman were married in Austin on August 31, 1947. They had lived in Rockdale for 55 years. Bob was an engineer with ALCOA in Rockdale for 30 years, retiring in 1982.

Bob’s wife Barbara of Rockdale survives him. Other surviving family members include his sons: Robert. F. Thompson, Jr. and wife Diane of Bedford, David H. Thompson and wife Sally of Plano, and Richard C. Thompson and wife Michele of Austin; grandchildren: Jennifer Mosely, Jeffrey Thompson and Eric Thompson, and 1 great grandchild, Ethan Mosely.

Bob was a charter member of Rockdale First Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon. He was a 1940 graduate of Austin High School, he then went to the University of Texas at Austin. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He served a portion of his military time in the 99th Infantry Division. He then re-entered the University of Texas earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and then a Masters in Business Administration. He served as President of the Board for the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library. He was a member of the Evening Lions Club, Toastmasters Club, PTA and the MARC Center. He served on the boards of the American Cancer Society and the United Way. He served many years as county, state, and school board election judge.

George S. Schneider

October 7, 1920 – July 17, 2007
George Stanislaus Schneider, 86, of Dime Box, passed away on July 17, 2007 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Father Emilion Foltyn conducted the funeral service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dime Box on July 20, 2007. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Dime Box.

Mr. Schneider was born in Holman, Texas on October 7, 1920 to Edmund and Wilhelmina (Polach) Schneider. He and Lillian Leitko were married on January 9, 1947. He worked in the construction industry as a dry wall finisher.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Dime Box, son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Rita Schneider of Dime Box; grandsons: Kevin Howard Schneider, Jeffrey Dean Schneider and Joel Thomas Frith of Austin; son-in-law, Ronald Frith of Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Regina Marie Frith, infant son, Glenn Keith Schneider, brother, Adolph Schneider and sisters: Florence Beavers and Irene Schneider.

Johnny Wayne Biehle

February 7, 1955 – July 22, 2007
Johnny Wayne Biehle, 52 of Thorndale, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at his home. He was born on February 7, 1955 to Adolph and Frances (Beran) Biehle in Taylor, Texas. He married Linda Larkin on November 15, 1980 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale and worked for Alcoa. He retired from Alcoa after 30 years and also owned the Racing Greyhound Operations at his home and was a rancher for 25 years.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Biehle; and his grandparents, Joe and Tracy (Haag) Beran and Rinehold and Lena (Linton) Biehle.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Thorndale; son Troy Jacob Biehle of Thorndale; daughter Heather Henderson and husband Justin of Thorndale; mother Francis Biehle of Thorndale; brothers Kenneth Biehle and wife Darlene of Thorndale and Ray Biehle and wife Gloria of Rockdale; and his sister Mary Towery and husband Glenn of Thorndale.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 10 in the morning at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Retreat Cemetery near Thorndale, the Reverend Nita Newman of Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers are Richard Schneider, Benny Janecka, Mike Walden, Marty tanner, Jason Worley, and Steven Towery. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Scruggs, Kevin Stifflemire, Stanley Garrison, Derrick Ensor, Matthew, Glen Schneider, Ethan Walden, Bubba Hoffman, and Clayton Schneider.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the funeral home from 4 to 8 pm.

Johnny was a graduate of Thorndale High School and a member of Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church in the Pleasant Retreat Community. He was also a member of the National Greyhound Association and the Texas Greyhound Association. He enjoyed team roping, riding horses and hog hunting.

Robert George Zahler

November 23, 1936 – July 20, 2007
Robert (Bob) Zahler, 70, of Lexington died on July 20, 2007 in St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. The funeral service will be Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Ramon Frayna officiating. He will be buried in the Locklin Family Cemetery in Milam County.

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 23, 1936 to George and Helen Zahler.

Bob had been employed as a painter, then worked for GMC and had eventually retired as a real estate agent in the Austin area.

He and Pauline Kasper were married on June 3, 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Zahler of Lexington; 3 sisters: Gertrude Berneskei, Geraldine Lavelle and Dorothy Tucker, all of Cleveland, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob served in the US Navy for 5 years. He enjoyed playing the accordion and was a member of the Accordion Association of America.
