November 27, 1915 – July 24, 2007 Annie Catherine McGee Brown, 91, of Giddings, passed away on July 24, 2007 in Oakland Manor Nursing Center. She was born on November 27, 1915 in Baird, Texas to Daniel Sydney and Ocie Ola (Asbury) McGee. She and Olen B. Brown were married on March 6, 1936 in Cisco, Texas. She was a teacher. Her husband, parents, sister, Ola Bess James and three brothers, John, Jack, and Daniel McGee preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Rust of Giddings, granddaughter, Sherrie Newman of New Braunfels, grandson, Patric Rust of Giddings; two great grandchildren, Cortney and Olen Tyler Newman of New Braunfels and multiple beloved extended family and friends. Funeral services will be on August 5, 2007 at 1:00 pm in the Jal City Cemetery in Jal, New Mexico. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Giddings or the charity of choice. Mrs. Brown was known for her leading rolls in the Eastern Star, the WCS Methodist Women’s Association, The Bridge Club and as a founder of the Golden Agers Senior Citizens Center in Jal, New Mexico. July 2, 1940 – July 26, 2007 Tom Burgett, 67, died at his home in Rockdale on July 26, 2007. He was born in Houston on July 2, 1940 to Barney and Mary Aline (Arnold) Burgett. He was a commercial truck driver. He and Brenda Haupt were married on January 19, 1980 in Marlin. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of Rockdale; son, Robert Burgett and wife Donna of Marlin; daughters: Donna Fontenot and husband John of Cedar Creek, Corrie Hurley and husband Aaron of Palmer, and T.J.Poon and husband Jason of Austin; brother, Lonnie Burgett and wife Cuoquing of Galveston; sister, Elizabeth Brown and husband Jay of Bellaire; grandchildren: Rachel Burgett of Marlin, Jason Burgett of Palmer, Truman Burgett of Palmer and Rebecca Hurley of Palmer and great grandson, Ryan Burgett of Marlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bob and Sonny Burgett and sisters, Pat Vicars and Darlene Gardner. Rev. Earl G. Presley of First Christian Church in Rockdale conducted the funeral service at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on July 29, 2007. He worked as a Service Installation Technician for Houston Natural Gas Company, managed a beer distributor in Marlin and was a commercial driver for Sherwin Williams, J.B.Hunt, U.S. Silica and Taylor Bedding. August 17, 1955 – July 26, 2007 Mr. Gooding was born in Gainesville, Texas on August 17, 1955 to Herman, Sr. and Ruby (Cockrum) Gooding. He worked as a Teflon molder in plastics manufacturing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Preacher and Estelle Cockrum and Nola Smith. He is survived by his parents, Herman and Ruby Gooding of Giddings; brother, Herman Gooding, Jr., of Houston; sister, Ina Mitschke and husband Calvin, niece, Sharon Hoffman and husband Shane and nephew, Mike Mitschke and wife Sarah, all of Northrup; special friends: Kim King and Bill Wyant and Mike and Tillie Phillips. September 6, 1950 – July 21, 2007 Pallbearers were Erick Turner, Chad Turner, Doug Lobdell, Steve Wyatt, Gary Yakesch, and Jack Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Turner, Stephen Morgan, James Wyatt, and Donnie Wyatt. Mrs. Knapik was born on September 6, 1950 in Rockdale to Alvin and Ann (Murphy) Wyatt. She and Raymond P. Knapik were married in Brazos County in 1984. Her brother, Garry Wyatt preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Raymond “Yogi” Knapik of Hearne; daughters, Tammy Turner and husband David and Tracy Morgan and husband Mark all of Gause; parents Alvin and Ann Wyatt of Gause; brother, Don Wyatt and wife Linda of Milano; brother-in-law, Al Knapik of Bremond; sister, Beverly Puryear of Gause; sister-in-law, Cathy Penick of Bremond; grandchildren: Erick, Chad and Austin Turner, Maryssa and Stephen Morgan all of Gause. Mrs. Knapik was a member of Gause Full Gospel Church and of the Hearne VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Memorials may be made to Gause Full Gospel Church, P.O. Box 79 Gause, TX 77857. June 19, 1932 - July 28, 2007 Alice Rose was born on June 19, 1932 to John Joseph and Alice (Regmund) Krusinsky in Corpus Christi, Texas. Alice Rose grew up in Corpus Christi and after attending high school graduated from Texas A&I with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. On March 25, 1954, she married Charles Lee Shoptaw in Corpus Christi. They raised their three children in Houston and after Charles passed away she moved permanently to Lexington. Alice Rose became very active in the community serving in many capacities including; The Red Hat Ladies, The Garden Club, Lion’s Club, Chamber of Commerce. She also served as a Deacon in the First Christian Church and President of the Senior Citizen’s Club. Alice Rose is remembered as someone who loved life, traveling, and her ranch, but her greatest joy was her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by children, Debra Shoptaw Lowe of Houston, Susan & her husband Stanton Bussell of Waco, and John Charles Shoptaw of Galveston, Grandchildren; Bridget Bussell and Charlie Bussell both of Waco. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Lexington, with visitation on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington with family being present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Corpus Christi at Seaside Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials have been requested for the Lexington Community Enterprises a.k.a. (Lexington Park Building Fund) or the First Christian Church of Lexington. February 25, 1919 – July 24, 2007 Mrs. Zoch was born on February 25, 1919 to Paul E. and Emma (Domaschk) Liberty in Serbin. She and Herbert Zoch were married in Serbin on August 21, 1938. Her husband, parents, sister, Anna Hermine Liberty and brother, Edwin Liberty preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Clifford Herbert Zoch and wife Kathy of Austin; grandsons: Daniel Gregory Zoch and fiancée, Amy Bump of Houston and Jeffrey Michael Zoch of Lubbock; nieces: Marilyn Pietsch, Frances Eschberger, and Carol Mittasch and several grand nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Daniel Zoch, Jeffrey Zoch, James Mittasch, Mark Jaehne, Patrick Jaehne, John Eschberger, and Royce Pietsch. |
