December 21, 1931 - August 9, 2007 Robert “Bud” Crim died on Aug. 9, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. He was born on December 21, 1931 in Tanglewood, Texas to John William Crim and Ivy Myrtle (Stence) Crim. A “local boy” all his life, Bud graduated from Rockdale High School in 1949, was married to Ruby Iona Owens in Caldwell on Nov. 12, 1951, and lived in Hearne since 1954. Bud was a life-long active member of the Forest Grove Christian Church, a member of the Hearne Masonic Lodge and worked as a mechanic for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 31 years. He was a master mechanic, arrowhead hunter, fisherman and coin collector. He had a kind heart and an excellent sense of humor. Public Visitation was held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. The funeral was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Forest Grove Christian Church near Rockdale. The interment was at the Forest Grove Cemetery. Bud was proceeded in death by his son, Jerald J. Crim; his parents, John and Ivy Crim; his brothers, Bill, Charles R., Henry and James Crim; his sisters, Louise Norman and Mary Katherine Bow. Bud is survived by his wife, Iona “Oonie” Crim of Hearne; his son, Robert W. Crim and wife Lynne of Alpine, Texas; his grandchildren, Jesse Crim of Arlington and Kelsy Stokes and husband Daniel of Austin; his brother, Jerry Crim and wife Faye of Elgin; his sisters-in-law, Myra Crim of Conroe, Doris Crim of Forest Grove, Teeny Crim of Caldwell and Louise Paschall of Sharp; his brother-in-law, Dale Owens and wife Effie of Rockdale. September 17, 1923 - August 11, 2007 On August 11, 2007 Hilton Hall went to be with his Lord and Savior to rest in peace with the promise of everlasting life. He was born on Sept. 17, 1923 to Salina and D.K. hall in Huges Springs, Cass County, Texas where he spend his formative years. He graduated from Huges Springs High School in 1942 and enrolled in Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College now knon as Texas A & M University. He applied for and was accepted into the School of Accounting in addition to his studies, he was a member of the corps and a proficient basketball player for the College. The Maroon and White and the Aggie Wer hymn never left his blood. While he was able, he always held season tickets for the home games. Upon graduation in 1946, he obtained employment as a senior clerk in the Accounting Department of Gulf Oil in Port Arthur, Texas. He remained in Port Arthur until 1969 advancing to Unit Head. In 1969 he was promoted to Supervisor with the charge of overseeing and coordinating the financial aspects between Gulf Oil and Brown and Root, among other duties. In the building of the new Gulf Alliance refinery in Port Sulphur, Louisiana. His desk plate accurately described his position, “Director of Accounting and other related duties.” Hilton retired from Gulf Oil on July 31, 1983 after 36 ½ years of service. His Louisiana friends knew him as Bill. So while living in New Orleans, Lorene lived with Bill Hall. In Texas it was Hilton. During his lifetime Hilton was a dedicated Christian and was from the beginning an active member of the Church. This began with his upbringing in Hughes Springs at the First Methodist Church. While in Port Arthur, he attended the United Methodist Temple and with his transfer to Louisiana the Aurcra United Methodist Church located in Algiers. After retirement he joined the Lexington United Methodist church where he was a faithful servant until his death. Hilton was a loving husband to his wife of 56 years, Lorene, and a caring, inspirational father to his daughter Lynnette. His enjoyment of good food (especially sweets), 42 and Domino games and an infectious laugh will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Lorene; daughter, Lynnette, and her husband Jack; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Hilton is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Windel; half-brothers, Cullen Camp, Rayford Camp, Horace Camp and step-brother, Orville Hall; and stepsister Grace Hall Burkhalter. Over the years Hilton became acquainted with and made many life-long friends through his affiliations with Texas A & M, Gulf Oil and his Churches. Many that have known him over the years said that he never met a person that he did not like. The family wishes to acknowledge with great appreciation the kindness and care that was afforded Hilton through the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas and Richard’s Memorial Hospital in Rockdale during his final days. And to the Lexington St. Joseph Clinic staff for all of their genuine concerns. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a contribution be made to Hiltons’ memory to the charity of your choice or to the following: Lexington United Methodist church, PO Box 116, Lexington, Texas 78947, to Vista Hospice Care or Rockdale Community Assisted Living Facility. Viewing was held on Aug 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Phillips and Lucky Funeral Home in Lexington. Service were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug 14 at the Lexington United Methodist Church. Officiating the services will be Reverend Linda O’Neal, Pastor of the Church. Pallbearers will be Robert Brister, Britt Brisco, John Camp, Aldoph Herter and Ray Lay. Interment will immediately follow the services at the Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Hilton, may you rest in peace. We shall meet again. Gig ‘em Aggies! August 2, 1934 – August 13, 2007 A life-long resident, Geneva was born to James and Alvenia Hurt on August 2, 1934 in Milano, graduated from Milano High School, attended Sandy Creek Church of Christ, was married to Clyde Fredrich Paceley on August 18, 1951, and worked for the Milano Independent School District for 40 years. A bowler for 32 years, Geneva was a lifetime member of the Cameron and Rockdale Bowling League. She volunteered for many school activities and served as scorekeeper, coach and team mom for Milano I.S.D. Geneva had 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Geneva was preceeded in death by her husband Clyde “Pee Wee” Paceley on April 16, 1990, and her parents. Geneva is survived by her sons: James Paceley of Freer; Fred Paceley and wife Cookie of Donie; Jerry Paceley and wife Whitney of Franklin; sisters: Louise Moore and husband Donald of San Antonio; Dalpha Garrison of Milano; Ann Moorre and husband Bruce of San Antonio; Margie Lopez and husband Charles of Dew; brother George Hurt of Milano; grandchildren: Lizette, Tonja, Dewayne, Erin, Kyrie, Dustin, Ashlyn, Kalya, Tiffany and Raymond; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Lavelie. Honorary Pall Bearers were Jonathan Stricker, Hunter Stricker and Gabby Tharp. Lucille was born on August 20, 1926 in Lincoln, Texas to Herman B. and Selma Bieberstein. She married Roy L. Walther on June 2, 1946 in Manheim and worked for the City of Giddings as the City Secretary for many years. She is survived by her daughter Jo Lynn Tharp and husband Paul of Giddings; grandchildren Tammy Stricker of Giddings, Tommy Tharp and wife Tanya of College Station, and Leslie Tharp and friend Stefanie Jaeger of Waco; great-grandchildren Jonathan Stricker and Hunter Stricker both of Giddings and Gabrielle (Gabby) Tharp of College Station; sisters Elyne Niemtschk and husband Leroy of Thorndale, Vernelle Zoch and husband Alfred of Giddings and Glory Mae Bieberstein of Houston. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive her. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents, Herman and Selma Bieberstein; and one sister, Viola Church. |
