August 29, 1919 – February 9, 2008 Benno Friedeck died at the Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale on February 9, 2008 at the age of 88. Benno was born in Kirby, Texas on August 29, 1919. He was married to the late Ruby Friedeck. Benno worked as a diesel mechanic for International Harvester in Houston until retirement. He lived in Milano the past five years and was previously in Houston. Benno is survived by his son, Benno Friedeck, Jr. and wife Sue of Detroit, Michigan; daughter, Linda Cashiola and husband Louis of Houston; step-son, Ernest Caldwell and wife Arlene of Elgin, Texas. He is also survived by one grandchild and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on February 12, 2008 at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Interment was in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. October 24, 1941 – February 9, 2008 Patricia A. (Schigut) Kopetsky died at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston on February 9, 2008. She was 66 years old. Patricia was born on October 24, 1941 in Houston to Joseph Paul Schigut, II and Hattie Ann Viess. A life-long Texas resident, Patricia lived in Caldwell and moved to Rockdale in 1968. She was a graduate of Caldwell High School, a Wal-Mart employee and a homemaker. She married Billy Wayne Kopetsky on May 11, 1968 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, J.P. Schigut. Patricia is survived by her husband, Billy W. Kopetsky of Rockdale; brothers, Don Schigut and wife Virginia of Salado, Texas and E.J. “Butch” Schigut and wife Mary Ann of Bryan; numerous nieces and nephews including a special great-niece, Rylee Speakmon. Public Visitation will be from 6 – 9 p.m. February 13, 2008 with rosary at 7 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on February 14, 2008 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Interment to follow in the Wheelock Cemetery in Hearne. Rev. Gregory Hanks of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale will officiate. Funeral services were held on February 2, 2008 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Jan Campbell of Peace Lutheran Church officiated. Pallbearers were: Albert Lee Linke, Glenn Linke, James Ritcher, Doyle Nitsche, Bill McKown and Quinto Rubio. February 29, 1936 – February 9, 2008 Ophelia Lopez died at the age of 71 in her home in Temple on February 9, 2008. Ophelia was born on February 29, 1936 in Rockdale to Vincente and Frances (Contreras) Jimenez. She was a homemaker and mother of six children. Ophelia lived in Temple the last four years and was formally of Rockdale where she lived most of her life. She attended Antioch Baptist Church in Rockdale and enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She also enjoyed watching sports; especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves. Ophelia was preceded in death by her son, Manuel Lopez, III; brothers, Vincente Jimenez, Jr. and George Jimenez; and her sister, Concepcion Hutson. She is survived by four sons, Daniel Lopez of Longview, David Lopez of Temple, Martin Vincente Lopez of Phoenix, Arizona, Sam Lopez of Rockdale; two daughters Ruth Ann Garza of Austin, Francis Elaine Lopez of Temple; brothers, Candalario Jimenez of Rockdale; sister, Sophia Normal of Rockdale; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on February 12, 2008 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home with internment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. Jack Chelf of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale presided. Pallbearers were Ruben Lopez, Joromiah Lopez, Vincent Garza, Conrad Garza, Adam Garza and David Lopez, Jr. Honoray pallbearer was Landis Scott Garza MM3/E5. December 12, 1916 – February 9, 2008 Greta McVoy Moore died at the age of 91 in Kerrville, Texas on February 9, 2008. She was born in Tanglewood on December 12, 1916 to Robert Bruce McVoy and Hattie L. (Davis) McVoy. Gerta was raised in Tanglewood. She lived in Kerryville for the past seven years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington and while living in Waco she was very active in the Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing 42, 84 and Bridge. She had three sons, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Greta worked at South Houston High School cafeteria, then was the supervisor of the cafeteria at Giddings State School, then she became the supervisor of the cafeteria at Waco State School. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Pansy Lynn, Violet Jackson, Maurine Brown, and Flora Bess Ellis. Greta is survived by her son, M. Carol Moore and wife Judy of Kerrville and their son, Greg Moore and his children, Joshua and Hanna-Belle. She is also survived by her son, Douglas Moore and wife Sue of Riesel and their children Bruce Moore and wife Connie, Donna Bell and husband Jubal and their children, Christopher and wife April and their children, Cody and Andrew; Phillip Moore and wife Laura and their children Ryan, Amanda and Jennifer. Greta is also survived by her long term care giver and special friend, Linda Haslberger. Graveside service was held on February 11, 2008 at the Lexington Cemetery. Rev. Doug Springer officiated. February 17, 1920 – February 4, 2008 Ruth P. Robison went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 4, 2008, having passed away at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale. She was 87 years old. Ruth was born on February 17, 1920 in the New Salem Community in Milam County, Texas to James F. Holliman and Lula Lee Tuma. She worked for years as a cafeteria worker and a teacher’s aide in the Texas City I.S.D. Ruth married Clarence F. Robinson on October 4, 1946 in Rockdale. They moved to Texas City and began their family. She was a member of many organizations, including the Retired Teachers Association, First Baptist Church in Rockdale, Bethany Sunday School Class, New Salem Homemakers, and a former member of First Baptist Church in Texas City where she served in the pre-school department for 17 years. Ruth enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, painting, sewing, crochet, football and making dolls. A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale, the Rev. Jack Chelf with First Baptist in Rockdale presided. Ruth’s parents, husband, granddaughter Christina Senulis and seventeen brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter JoAnn McClain of Rockdale, great-grandchildren Bryan Senulis of Pasadena, Kelly Senulis of College Station and their father David Senulis; great-great-granddaughter Candyce Senulis of Pasadena and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as many relatives and friends.
