August 2, 1930 – February 13, 2008 Milton Lee Blasig died on February 13, 2008 at age 77 at the VA Hospital in Temple. Milton was born in Warda, Texas on August 2, 1930 to Oscar Blasig and Ella Blasig. He married Dorothy (Moerbe) Kieschnick and they had a combined total of 10 children. Milton was an owner-operator of a produce farm. He served in the Marines and was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Allyne E. Blasig; parents, Oscar and Ella Blasig; brothers, Harold Blasig and Charles “Buddy” Blasig. Milton is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kieschnick; children, Garry Blasig of Paige, Texas, Dennis Blasig and wife Sharon of Giddings, Ronald Blasig and wife Sandra of Giddings, Donald Blasig and wife Valla of Giddings, Loretta Kissman and husband Claude of Austin, Peggy Siegeler of Giddings, Sandra Dietz of Austin, John Kieschnick and wife Linda of Giddings, Tom Kieschnick and wife Carol of Lincoln, Billie Kieschnick and wife Eva Jo of Giddings. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held on February 17, 2008 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim. Burial was at the Giddings City Cemetery. Rev. Herbert Keistmann officiated. Pall bearers were Brandy Blasig, Mason Blasig, Dustyn Blasig, Derryk Blasig, Dentyn Blasig, Kyle Kieschnick, Kent Kieschnick and Jesse Oltmann. Honorary pall bearers were Chris Kieschnick, Lorin Kieschnick, Wes Kieschnick, Walt Kieschnick, Adam Kieschnick, Justin Kessler, Bill Goosen, Craig Romans, Shawna Blasig Oltmann, Stacey Blasig and Taylor Blasig. Memorials may be sent to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Manheim School Tuition Fund. October 5, 1962 – February 12, 2008 Kevin Dean Brooks died on February 12, 2008 at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown. He was 45 years old. Kevin was born to Phillip N. Brooks and Verda J. Gore on October 5, 1962 in Ceres, California. He worked as a webmaster for the Army Corps of Engineers for 23 years and retired in 2003. He moved to Thorndale in 2004. Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Brooks. He is survived by his sons, Kevin Brooks II of Thorndale; parents, Phillip and Verda Brooks of Thorndale; brother, Michael Brooks of Georgetown; grandmother, Murrel Brooks of Thorndale. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Throndale on February 15, 2008. Rev. Larry Griffith from the First Baptist Church in Thorndale officiated. Burial was in Comanche City Cemetery in Comanche, Okla. Memorials may be sent to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 East Sunrise Dr., Tuscon, AZ 85718. February 1, 1952 – February 9, 2008 Lynnette Marie Hall Kesseler of Houston, Texas was born on February 1, 1952 to William Hilton Hall and Lorene Bauer Hall. She died after a long illness in the Cypress Fairbanks Hospital in Houston, Texas, on February 9, 2008. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Temple in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1970. She attended Lamar University in Beaumont and then the University of Houston. She went to work for San Jacinto Savings and Loan and later made a career of working for mortgage companies as an underwriter. She married John Henry “Jack” Kesseler on September 27, 1975. She retired in December of 2006. She was a member of Lexington United Methodist Church. Lynnette was predeceased by her father, William Hilton Hall of Lexington; her grandparents Ernest and Agnes Bauer of Lexington, and K.K. and Selina Hall of Hughes Springs, Texas. She is survived by her mother Lorene Hall of Lexington, and her husband John Henry “Jack” Kesseler of Houston, and by cousins and many friends. Lynnette loved horses, dogs and cats and most of all people. She had a wonderful sense of humor and sense of style. She was a bright and cheerful presence in all our lives and will be sorely missed. A memorial service was held on February 16, 2008 at Lexington United Methodist Church, the Reverend Linda O’Neal presiding. November 13, 1918 – February 12, 2008 Vera Hazel Robinson died at the age of 89 on February 12, 2008 in Houston. She was born to Jerome John Dreher and Myrtle Lula (Rozell) Dreher on November 13, 1918 in Hamilton Chapel, near Rockdale. She married Thomas Paul Robinson on June 27, 1946 at the Courthouse in Cameron. Vera was a homemaker and during WWII she worked for Hughes Tools in Houston as a welder. She was a member of Norhill Baptist Church in Houston and she loved to paint and do ceramics and crocheting. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William H. “Jack” Dreher; and sister, Estelle Muston. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Paul Robinson of Houston; daughters, Delta Leona Wright and husband James of Houston, Judy Helen Valladares of Universal City, Jan Nanette Howard of Greenville, South Carolina; sisters, Geraldine J. Hosek of Rockdale, Johnnie Sue Roberts of Rockdale, Marilyn Orsak of Rockdale, Peggy Louise Hosek of Rockdale. She is also survived by five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on February 14, 2008. Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Jack Chelf of the First Baptist Church officiated. Pall bearers were Wade Wright, Kerry Wright, Lance Denny, David Orsak, Kevin Roberts, and Steven Roberts. April 2, 1960 – February 11, 2008 Darlene Powell Sisk died at the age of 47 on February 11, 2008 in Lee County. She was born on April 2, 1960 in Deming, New Mexico to Lloyd and Beulah (Grider) Powell. She lived in Rockdale for the past 20 years. Darlene worked as a heavy equipment operator for TXU-Luminant for the past 16 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Powell and her grandparents, Elisa and Clarence Grinder. Darlene is survived by her sons, Christopher Lee Funburg of Rockdale, Steven Shane Sisk of Bryan; mother, Beula Powell of Eufaula, Okla.; grandchildren, Kathen Michael Funburg, Kameron Lloyd Funburg and Emily Nicole Lorenz; sisters, Jackie Contreras of Mexia, Karen Thomas of Eufaula, Okla. Funeral services were held at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home on February 15, 2008. Burial was in the Bower Cemetery near Eufaula, Okla. Rev. Carl Hudson from Meadowbrook Baptist Church presided. Pall bearers were her co-workers at the Three Oaks Mine Memorials may be made to the Rockdale Relay for Life. |
