Louis Paniagua

Louis Paniagua, 93, of Milano, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell with Father Bernard Hung as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Church cemetery.

Louis was born September 26, 1923 in Milano to parents Jeremias Paniagua and Antonia (Hurtado) Paniagua. He married Matea Vasquez on September 22, 1956 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas. To this union were blessed 6 children: John, Joe, Mary, Gloria, Dora and Linda.

He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1988 and was a devoted member of the “Comite Patriotico Mexicano” (Mexican Patriotic Committee) in Cameron and the “Sociedad del Santo Nombre” (Holy Name Society).

Louis enjoyed attending Milano football games, spending time with his family that he loved, and was very devoted to his Savior.

Louis loved being outdoors working on his yard or woodworking, building benches, etc.

Louis loved his conjunto and Tejano music and could always be found listening to it loudly and proudly.

Mr. Paniagua was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters, Guadalupe Vasquez and Herminia Ruiz, 2 brothers Elias and Angel Paniagua, and 1 grandchild, Makayla Muniz.

He is survived by two sons, John Paniagua and wife Gloria and Joe Paniagua all of Milano; four daughters, Mary Mancha and husband Jose of Milano, Gloria Pedroza and husband Jesus R. of Milano, Dora Muniz and husband Mark of Giddings, and Linda Paniagua of Houston; a sister, Rosa Garcia, and also by 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
