187 people participated in the Giddings New Horizons Lions Brain Power Five & Dime 5K/ 1K Run/Walk this past Saturday. The start/finish for the 1st annual event was held at the Giddings Municipal Golf Course. Participants traversed the county roads in the area near the golf course. Runners and walkers ranged in age from 4 years to 78 years and three of those 70+ completed the 5K Run in less than 40 minutes. The charity event raised thousands of dollars while promoting awareness for Alzheimer’s research. All proceeds will be sent to the Fischer Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation which is working towards a breakthrough in the prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease. The event attracted runners from all over Texas, as well as from Arizona and Oklahoma. 25p1.jpg
