The Rotary Club of Giddings presented “Service Above Self” awards at their show on Monday, March 7, 2011 to two Giddings police officers and Dr. JD Fain, for their heroic actions at the January Lone Star Opry/Country Music Monday. Following the January show, a woman felt ill as she left the building, so a wheelchair was brought up for her to sit in while she waited for her husband to get their car. Apparently, while she waited, she fainted and the quick thinking of JD Fain, who administered CPR, and the two officers, one of which was also an EMT, helped before EMS arrived. The woman returned to Country Music Monday for their February show and offered thanks to all who had helped her. She had suffered a heart attack following that January show but had since made a full recovery! Pictured are (from left to right) Rotarian Secretary Johnathan Noack, Sgt. Anthony Ramirez, Officer Steve Spencer, Dr. JD Fain, and Rotarian President Bill Wood. PHOTO BY ANDY WIER. 20p1.jpg
