Lexington Senior Citizens were awarded a $10,000 grant from the Lehman Foundation last week. The 5013c Corporation had applied for the grant to help make the repairs needed in their facility located on the Square in Downtown Lexington. Assistant Secretary of the organization, Sharon Tucker said, “While this won’t be enough to help us do everything we need to do to the building, it will go a long way in helping us get started,” Ervin Griffith, President of the Lexington Senior Citizens described some of the work that needs to be done. “We need a new roof, the floor leveled, the porch re-done, the west-wall leveled, a new central heating and air conditioning unit, updated bathrooms and more.” The organization also applied for a grant from the Lexington EDC and from Luminant. They learned recently that Luminant will be awarding them a $1,000 grant, and they hope to get a $500 matching grant from LEDC.
