One of the largest turnouts in Homecoming history was seen last weekend as Lexington celebrated its 45th year of the event. People lined up along Main Street for the parade were “thick as flies” according to one old timer who said he’d never seen as many people coming to Lexington for this or any other event. Following the parade on Saturday, the Square teemed all afternoon as visitors enjoyed food, musical entertainment, games, shopping, fellowship and more. Both Friday and Saturday night, the young and old gathered on the Square for the street dances that featured Central Texas entertainers. Lexington’s Chief of Police Randy Davenport said he was impressed with the way everyone handled themselves and that his department had no incidents to taint the weekend’s activities.
