Albert “Chris” August Christiansen

Funeral services for Albert “Chris” Christiansen, 80, of Conroe, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Ryan Grube officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion York Post 276, will immediately follow in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Albert August Christiansen was born on June 3, 1937 in Giddings, Texas, the son of Henry and Regina (Wolff) Christiansen. He was baptized on April 24, 1938 and confirmed on October 28, 1951 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. His confirmation verse was Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Albert graduated from Giddings High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army from February 1, 1957 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on November 19, 1959. He obtained the rank of Private First Class. He enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful birdhouses, benches and other items still cherished by family and friends. He also enjoyed reading and had just begun his newest hobby of restoring old license plates.

Albert passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Conroe Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Regina Christiansen; his lifetime companion of 30 years, Eunice Chaney; his son-in-law, Michael Teasdale and an infant brother and an infant sister.

Albert is survived by his daughter, Sheila Gosselin of Conroe; his son, Mark Christiansen & his wife, Ann of Splendora; two grandchildren, Marshall Pridgen & Christina Derkowski of Conroe and Daniel Gosselin of Conroe; two great grandchildren, Katie Gosselin of Conroe and Elizabeth Watkins of Conroe; four sisters, Shirley Marburger & her husband, Otis of Paige, Carolyn Symmank of Manheim, Delores Steglich & her husband, James of Smithville and Patsy Steglich & her husband, Jerry of Giddings; one brother, Patrick Christiansen of Canyon Lake as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Texas Heart Institute, Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings or to the charity of one’s choice.
