Frances Pearl Lerche

Funeral services for Frances Lerche, 85, of Lexington, Texas, were held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Frances Pearl (Exner) Lerche was born on April 4, 1933 in the Germania Community outside of Lexington, Texas to Alfred Carl Exner & Ella Ottilie Johanna (Fischer) Exner. She was baptized on May 14, 1933 and was confirmed on September 28, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lexington. Frances married Herbert Oswald Lerche on March 20, 1948 also at St. John Lutheran Church in Lexington. Together they planted and raised many acres of peanuts. Upon Herbert’s retirement from peanut farming, she went to work at the City Meat Market in Lexington. She enjoyed baking, making jellies, planting a huge garden, and making pickles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially baking sugar cookies with them. Frances passed away the evening of Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred & Ella Exner; her husband of 70 years, Herbert Lerche Sr.; her son, Herbert Lerche Jr.; one sister, Bernice Exner, and two brothers-in-law, Erwin Lerche and Gilbert “Dick” Schimank.

Frances is survived by her son, Michael Lerche & his wife, Diana of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Bernice Lerche of Lexington; two granddaughters, Krista Lerche of Lexington, and April Lerche of Lexington; three grandsons, Barrett Lerche, Eli Lerche, and Emmet t Lerche al l of Lexington; two sisters, Lorine Lerche of Lexington and Dorothy Schimank of Lexington, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Clay Brockenbush, Barrett Lerche, John Pelham, Robert Pelham, Chad Summers and Jim Summers. Honorary pallbearers were Eli Lerche and Emmett Lerche.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or to the charity of one’s choice.
