Debra “Debbie” Lay Beisert

Funeral services for Debra “Debbie” Beisert, 61, of Lincoln, Texas, were held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas with Rev. Garrett Smith officiating. Debra Ann (Lay) Beisert was born on November 14, 1956 in Giddings, Texas to Quinnies Nolan “Pete” Lay and Ida Mae (Copus) Lay. She attended school in Lexington and received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood. Debbie was baptized as a child and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Robert Koenig. She was united in marriage to Ronnie Beisert on March 16, 1974 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. Debbie worked in childcare most of her life. She served as a teacher and eventually the director of the Immanuel Lutheran Early Childhood Center in Giddings for many years. She also worked as a substitute teacher for schools in Giddings and Smithville. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau and volunteered at the Giddings Food Pantry. She was a collector of antiques and birdhouses and enjoyed decorating, cooking, baking and taking care of her yard.

Debbie passed away unexpectedly in her sleep during the early morning hours of Friday, March 2, 2018 at her home in Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda Lay.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Ronnie Beisert of Lincoln; three daughters, Julie Beisert- Smith & her husband Hoby of Hutto, Nathalie Arldt & her husband, David of Ledbetter and Jennica Wheeler of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Mikayla Mutscher of Austin, Caedon Jervis of Ledbetter, Blake Arldt of Ledbetter, Allison Arldt of Ledbetter, Cameron Martin of Lincoln, Baylee Wheeler of Lincoln and Wyatt Wheeler of Lincoln; one sister, Linda Lehmann & her husband, Jimmie of Dime Box; her parents-in-law, Alvin & Ruth Beisert of Giddings; one brother-in-law, Michael Beisert & his wife, Deborah of Giddings, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church of Loebau School Tuition Fund, 4654 County Road 114, Lincoln, Texas 78948, or to the charity of one’s choice.
