Hattie Lee Christiansen

Funeral services for Hattie Christiansen, 100, of Giddings are scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Ryan Grube officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm and on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 7:00 am until 8:30 am at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Hattie Lee (Frieda) Christiansen was born on June 14, 1917 in Deanville, Texas to Frank Joe & Sophie F. (Lina) Frieda. She was baptized on August 26, 1917 and confirmed on June 8, 1930 at Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell. Her confirmation verse was 1 Corinthians 6:11, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God”.

She was a telephone operator for Southwestern State Telephone Company for 15 years. She was also employed by Moore Business for 10 years before she retired in 1982. Hattie was also a longtime Avon Representative. After Hattie retired, she took painting lessons and her beautiful artwork hangs in many homes. She was a member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge #301 in Deanville, Texas, the American Legion Auxiliary in Caldwell and participated in numerous activities at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Hattie enjoyed playing dominoes, Canasta, sewing, dancing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

She passed away the evening of Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Giddings Residence and Rehabilitation Center.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry Allan Christiansen; her granddaughter, Lisa C. Eldridge; siblings, Ira Frieda, Charles Frieda, Mae Dell Kurlan, Laura Bell Williams, Lois Leitko, Loretta Hueske, and Lorrenda Frieda.

She is survived by her son, Johnnie C. Christiansen and his wife, Sandy of Giddings; one grandson, Stephen Christiansen and his wife Christy of Paige; four great grandchildren, Andrew Eldridge of Bryan, Meagan Eldridge of New York, Stephanie Christiansen of Bastrop, and Andrea Grisham, and her husband, Christopher of Mississippi; three great, great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Frieda Jr. of Caldwell, and Clarence Frieda of New Hampshire; one sister, Dora Louise Creekmur and her husband, Paul of Arlington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
