Glenn Christophe Luedke

Funeral services for Glenn Luedke, 79, of Northrup, Texas were held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating.

Glenn Christophe Luedke was born on July 30, 1938 in William Penn, Texas. He was called to his Savior’s side and eternal home on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.

Glenn was the son of Willie and Clara (Mertins) Luedke. He was born again into the kingdom of God through holy baptism on August 21, 1938 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn with Pastor A.J. Appel officiating. He confirmed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas on April 6, 1952 with Pastor Paul Ludwig officiating. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran church.

On July 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Alice Lorine Mitschke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas by Pastor A. Froelich of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Houston. This union was blessed with two children, Dena Lynne and Dane Scott.

Glenn served his country by joining the Texas National Guard in 1956. His unit was activated in October of 1961 due to the Berlin Crisis and he was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He received an Honorable Discharge in October of 1962.

He began full-time work in 1956 and retired on July 31, 2009. When he wasn’t at work, Glenn enjoyed working around his house and in his yard. He was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie & Clara Luedke; his parents-in-law, Isidor & Elsie (Noack) Mitschke; his daughter, Dena Luedke Kuhlmann; one brother, Willard “Bubba” Luedke; one brother-in-law, Wally Wilson and two nephews, Mark Luedke and Michael Mitschke.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Luedke of Northrup; his son, Dane Luedke of Northrup; two grandchildren, Sommer Garman & her husband, Chris of San Antonio and Caleb Kuhlmann & his wife, Wendy of Montgomery; six great grandchildren, Nathan & Oliver “Ollie” Garman both of San Antonio and Jeremiah, Micaiah, Leah Grace and Isaiah Kuhlmann all of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Carmen Luedke of Brenham; two sisters, Margie Fleissner & her husband, Johnnie of Dale and Mitzie Frazier & her husband, Butch of Cypress; two brothers, Larry Luedke & his wife, Sandy of Huffman and Terry Luedke & his wife, Melody of Midlothian; two aunts, Dorothy Luedke of Centerville and Alvina Luedke of Huntsville; two brothers-in-law, Paul Mitschke & his wife, Evelyn of Giddings and Calvin Mitschke & his wife, Ina of Northrup, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund in Serbin, Hospice Brazos Valley, the Wounded Warrior Project or to the charity of one’s choice.
